Q: Has had a small pull back to $74.67 level and wondering if this would be a good position to add to RRSP. Other alternative would be BAM.a or CWT.un.
Would appreciate your valued opinion.
Thanks and awesome service

Q: VSN is approaching its 52 week low. Is it a buy at this price? The purchase is for a non-registered account. I have owned VSN in a registered account for greater than 10 years. I am readjusting holdings in various accounts to better manage tax liabilities going forward and want to shift the account which will hold my VSN shares.
Excellent service.
Thanks

Q: Hi Group. I understand the concept of 5% individual stock weighting in portfolio management as it applies to growth and income stocks. On the fixed income side I am not sure. For example CBO and XHY represent 19% of my portfolio. Since I consider this fixed income and have a very long time horizon I never applied any type of rule in terms of weighting. (I sweep the dividends quarterly) Your guidance will be much appreciated as always.

Q: In a will situation that leaves your assets to your wife what happens to trading accounts that are held in your name and therefore not joint? How is this treated for tax? Conversely What happens if the accounts are joint? Thank You

Q: Hello Peter and Team,
After reading the update on McCoy Global, we thought that the company might be a good fit for our grandson's RESP [ a toddler ] . According to the news, McCoy will announce their annual report on Mar12th. If we decide to purchase some shares, would it be wise to wait until after the report ? We were also thinking of Precision Drilling.
Thank you for your opinion.

Q: Hello Peter & Co,
Looking at their performance over 5 years (compound annual), WCP,PEY,VET,POU & TOU (in slightly less than 5 years) are on top of the list with an average of 23%pa. Next came larger caps like IMO, SU, HSU & CNQ with an average of 4%pa. In contrast CPG returned less than 3% which means shareholders incurred a capital loss; BTE was a little lower than that.
It is true that past performance is not indicative of future returns; but I figure that having all faced the same music, some of them obviously danced better than the others.
No wonder then that the only energy producer in the 5i model portfolio is WCP; with your input Peter & Co, my holdings are limited to WCP, VET and TOU.
Thanks a lot,
Antoine

Q: A general question to 5 I staff and members.
Do you know if we can claim the money paid for joining 5iResearch on our income tax? I don't own a business, so the only thing I could claim in the past was a safety deposit box.

thanks,

Paul

Do you see anything obviously wrong with this combination of securities based upon the above stated goals ??? Thank you very much for your feedback. DL

Q: I purchased a small non registered portfolio for my 16 yr old son in Dec 2014. It consisted of equal holdings of BTE (-30%), COS (-51%), CPG (-20%) and WJX (-32%). It started with $4000, the present day value of this portfolio is $2700. The goal for this portfolio is long term growth.
My question is do I hold and wait for an oil recovery or is it better to sell all or some to create a portfolio which hopefully will produce superior long term results. We were being greedy jumping on the oil bandwagon looking for the large gains with big dividends - seems it was a mistake.
I have learned from your service the benefits of diversification and would greatly appreciate your advice on how to fix this for my son.
Also, I would like to know is it better to put your new growth portfolio in a non-registered or a registered account.
Thanks,
Michele

Q: Hi Peter and team

DHX Media has been drifting lower since the jump on the most recent earnings release. How expensive is it now? I can't seem to find any PE or other metrics that make sense.

Do you think the split into the A and B shares is confusing investors, especially American investors, and will therefore hold back the share price going forward?

Thank you!
