Q: Peter/group I have a right offering on CSU The present cost is 32 cents /share which will allow me to purchase more shares at the present market price of $120. It also pays me 8% in interest ...is this a good investment? Thanks PS I do not fully understand the offering if you could clarify it for me in simple terms. Thanks for steering us poor mortals in the right direction

Q: Are ETF really safe ? Two of my portfolio ETF showed strange behavior monday morning. WXM (Morningstar Canada Momentum Index ETF) did trade 15% down for a few minutes. It was worse for the large US SPLV (PowerShares S&P 500 low volatility ETF): The ETF plunged as low as $20, or 46% below last Friday’s close ! This has me questioning ETFs in my portfolio....
Q: I would appreciate your thoughts on adding 1% to an existing positions in PPL and ALA at this time. Current utilities allocation is 8% as follows: ALA 2.5%; PPL 2.3%; BEP.UN 3.2%. Alternatively, would you suggest replacing one of these holdings with either FTS or EMA?

Q: Hello team, What's your opinion on GUD? (has hold pretty well). I was looking at a big gap @ ~ 6.15....do you think it would get fill (if you believe in gaps always getting filled)? Do you think this correction is over?
Thank you!
Thank you!
Q: Yesterday was a rout, Today is a small bounce back. There are several analysts out there that expect a bounce back over the next 2 to 3 weeks in the range of 5%, and the next leg down as there still is not enough panic out there. At 5I do you believe in this theory? Small bounce back and then another fairly large leg down in the order of at least 20%. More so on the next leg down. This is what Mr. Berman has indicated and he seems to be correct almost all the time.
Q: BMO beat earnings but could you share (1) what you think about their outlook? (2) Do you think the 'tapped-out' consumer theory will die considering that aspect of their revenue actually did well? (3) Do you think that even if all banks beat earnings this quarter, the market move the sector back up? Thanks for your work. Intense week.

Q: Hi
The Investment Reporter newsletter rates XSR as a hold because of its negative Book Value. Yet, 5 of 6 analysts rate it a buy on the TD Waterhouse Ratings tab. It was even a top pick for Paul Gardner on Market Call a few months ago. Your thoughts?
Thanks

Q: Peter I just took (Aug 21 ) some substantial profits on Byd.un / Linamar ($70,000). Now I have capitol gains to pay. Any strategy you can suggest to lessen the impact. I would like to buy both of them back at some point is there any quick calculator that figures this out at what point it makes sense to reinvest? - I am concerned about eating up profits and paying tax ..Thanks for your advise it is much appreciated
Q: What do you think about having a stop-loss in place? Many investment gurus say to use them but most, if not all, of my stocks would have been taken out today with the drop in the market. And while most recovered to where they are marginally down, if they hadn't I would have been wishing I had put the stop-loss in!

Q: My understanding is that the courts recently ruled in favour of ENL against Allergan and upheld ENL's patents. I have equity in both companies. What I don't understand is why ENL is down more than 12.5% today and Allergan down only 2.5%. Is ENL a stock worth considering buying more of?
Q: I was listening to the CEO today describe that the dividend payout is below 50% currently and going lower than 45% in the coming quarters. With a stable but newer business what is your thoughts of this structure, Debt to Cash and Management itself. I am wondering if the stock will be stronger then most mainly due to the revenue projection and safety of dividend. Thank you as always Jason N
