Q: Hello 5i:

Our total portfolio holdings consist of 66% CDN and 26% US. No international holdings.

I am thinking of selling all or part of our CDN ETFs, XIU and XIC to increase our US allocation. We hold 82% of our CDN portfolio in 24 individual stocks, mostly covered by 5i. XIU and XIC are 7%; and the balance is held in bond and preferred ETFs.

I would like to increase our allocation in XSP and ZSP, by selling part or all of XIU and XIC. ($60K)

Not sure if our short time horizon is a factor in this change, but I am 66 and my husband will be 71 this year. He is still working but would like to retire in a year.

Your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to meeting you next Saturday.

Q: Hi,

I have a lot of stable lower risk stocks like insurance, banks, BAM, BEP, ZLU, ZUH, and am looking for your recommendation for a growth stock in either tech, gaming, entertainment, or whatever you recommend, for a 5% position for a long term hold. I'm wondering about AYA, AVO, CSU, OTC, CGX or what your recommendation would be.?

Q: Exceptional company with a visionary CEO. Latest quarter: Top line looks impressive enough with inroads to profitability and is free cash flow. Comment and how does balance sheet look?

Q: Good day. My question is with regards to LSG. In the past this company had struggled given the cash demands of the massive infrastructure costs they encountered developing the Timmins West complex. This resulted in poor operating results and a share price that declined from $4.00 to 1.10 today. In fact it was down as far as .32. They have turned the corner and moving forward they are guiding 180,000 of production annually at an all in cost of $900.00 Canadian giving them a profit of say $500.00 per ounce so everything being equal 90M bottom line which would translate into a 5 to 7 forward PE. A cash machine so to speak. That said they are currently doing a significant amount of work on the exploration side which they had lacked given the financial situation in the past. They have defined very interesting areas and it would not be surprising for them to add 1M OZ. to reserves in the next 3 to 6 months. In the event that this would happen my question is how would this effect the NPV and the share price given the aforementioned operating metrics?

Thank You

Q: Assuming the same risk profile as your model portfolio and a 100% equity weighting, what allocation would you recommend for the model portfolio and other broad market categories such as US equities and emerging markets to complete the portfolio. Can you suggests some ETF's to round out the portfolio as well?

Q: I sold my Barrick yesterday after owning it for almost 20 years. Not because I thought the price would drop, but because I just couldn't stand the pain (and mismanagement) any longer! I'd like to replace it with another gold stock (just for diversification). I know you like Goldcorp but I find AEM interesting and like the idea of it seemingly having much lower geo risk than G given the locations of its mines. Does your preference for G already factor in such risks? Or do you think the risks are overblown? Your comments appreciated!

Q: Please provide your assessment of DELAVACO RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES (DVO-U.V). Delavaco specializes in the acquisition and subsequent renovation and leasing of distressed single-family homes in the United States

This stock has dropped about 50 % since Sept 2014 and now appears to be trading well below book value.
It this stock a reasonable way to get exposure to the recovering housing market in the US?

Thanks
Dave

Q: Hi team:
I have hold the above for awhile, all of a sudden, in the last 2 weeks, it went up

Q: Interpipeline (IPL) raised it's dividend substantially in November '14 and raised it a record 18 cents or about 13% yesterday while reporting record revenues. Analysts expected more but is it possible they expected too much? This company has delivered stellar results since March 2009 when I bought it at $8,40. Would you agree and still buy it today?
How does Northland Power (NPI)look for dividend safety and possibly some capital gains?
Thank you.
