Q: I'm wondering if you could share your opinion on the reported rumblings in the bond markets and the speculation that equity market trouble is sure to follow. The reference is to the U.S. Markets as far as I can tell. Do you think there's a clear and present danger to Canadian equities?
Thanks very much.

Q: Last night on BNN, Barry Schwartz suggested buying banks (TD and NA specifically) and holding them "forever". If memory serves me, Sherry Cooper has previously indicated that most of her retirement savings are in bank stocks as well, figuring that if they get wiped out, we'll all have bigger problems than the stock markets. Recognizing that managements and other things change and forever might not be quite the right time frame, if you were going to buy five or six stocks to hold for a very long time (over 15 years?), what names would you pick today? Would it depend if they were going to be held in a TFSA or an unregistered acount?

Thanks for your help.

Q: I wanted to follow up on your answer to Ron regarding SunLife vs. CI Financial. I'm close to having all of the stocks in the Balanced Portfolio with a few extras from the Growth and Income portfolios that I already owned and don't want to part with yet. I don't have SunLife yet and have been hesitating to buy it. If you prefer CI, why is SunLife in the Balanced Portfolio? Is CI a substitute?

Q: Hello, I am looking to invest in oil outside of Alberta due to the recent uncertainty. Do you have any suggestions? I am looking at Tag oil, it's in a safe jurisdiction (New Zealand) and has a decent cash cushion. Are you comfortable with it at its current price or do you have a better suggestion. I still can't believe we voted in a majority NDP government.

Q: Results - please comment. I have a concern that they payout more than their cash flow. Could you comment on this as well?

Q: Could I get your opinion on DEO as a US divvy growth stock? Covered by 30 analysts with ranges from "strong buy" to outright "sell" or "reduce"-very annoying! Technically not good looking over the last while. Should I wait or buy? or is there a US name in the booze business you is more favorable? Thank You Ron

Q: Good morning. Could you please give me your thoughts on DR? I have a small holding of 1,000 shares that are down about 19% over the past couple of months. Is it worth continuing to hold for the long term, taking into account its healthy dividend? Thanks.
