Q: I don't own GUD, but your recent comment that it is sitting on nearly 1/2 billion dollars piqued my interest. Google finance tells me the market cap of GUD is ~ 670M and has no debt. So if I but it at today's price and market cap, I'm basically buying it for cash on hand?!

Seems like a good place for some money.

Cam.

Q: Hi,

RBC came out with a report last month on comparing CAR.UN/BEI.UN to renting a condo. Citing you would have done better over the long term with a REIT plus you do not have the hassle of dealing with tenants, possibly not being paid rent etc. What are your opinions with such a thought process of buying a REIT instead of a rental property? Is this a fair comparison?

Q: I noticed from GUD.TO's quarterly results that it does a lot of financing ativity, which make me wonder whether this is a pharmaceutical company or rather a financial firm. Don't know why its debt financing interest is so high (15%). Also please comment on its quarterly results.

Manny thanks!

Q: You mentioned this before that you were investors in Ebix Inc. and have met management (and liked them) in the past.

There has been some recent positive news in the company on the verge of some major ventures/partnerships/contracts. On the latest quarterly meeting call, the CEO Robin Raina was very optimistic that significant and material wins are in the pipeline. With your experience with management in the past, can you speak about what was it about the CEO or Executive team that made you confident in their abilities (at that time)? And in general, what type of qualities do you look for management for you to feel good about investing in a company?

Q: You frequently recommend CDZ for dividend growth. CDZ certainly contains quality dividend growth stocks but it has a very irregular dividend growth history, unlike it's holdings. The following are the annual dividend growth rates for CDZ vs the Canadian Dividend All Stars (average of 65 stocks):

2012 1.7% 14.4%
2013 8.2% 14.4%

Q: I am looking for an addition to my US portfolio in the financial sector. I am inclined to add AIG for its valuation and positive outlook if and when interest rates come down. But also KKR looks interesting and got a rich dividend. I will appreciate your expert advise as to the best choice.
Thank you as usual for your excellent service.
