Q: Hi,
I was wondering if you can give your opinion on DRA.UN. It trades at a significant discount to NAV and don't really have any analyst coverage. It seems to be an interesting way to diversify from regular stocks and bonds.

Q: I'm in the same leaky boat as others with the unsecured 8.75% notes. Given that the initial purchase was about 1% of my total portfolio, would it make sense to hang onto the shares I will get in the restructured company and treat it as a speculative investment?

Q: Hi There

I'm down a similar amount on each of these - a little over 50%.
Combined, they currently comprise about 1.5% of my portfolio.

I also own almost double the percentage above in FRU and CPG which are doing fine.

I'm wondering whether to hang on for a possible company sale of one or all of the first three or whether to "combine" them - which one would be the best keeper? - or put the proceeds into CPG.

Thanks as always
David

Q: I know your preference is to buy the strength and momentum and I do have a lot of those 5i names, but the I can't help but look at some of the beaten up oil companies. Companies like LTS, LEG, LRE, etc. all have so much debt and Athabasca Oil has none. Production may go up 3 or 4 fold in the next 18 months, $300 million still coming their way, and their market was only $695 million this morning. For a speculative play, do you see more potential than most small caps.

Q: with new housing growth in the U.S. not that great, slow down in Asia. What makes Western Forest Products a preferred choice in the sector. Japan has been devaluing their currency and from what I understand wef is facing competition from other countries like Russia. With a bunch of negatives out there it may be a good time for a contrarian to buy the stock. Can you throw a bone that would likely be cause the fundamentals for the company to improve, other than the fact that it is cheap.

Q: Dear Peter:
As you folks suggested to some of the earlier queries, the energy stocks seem to be in the bottoming process. What are the three or five solid Canadian stocks in the energy sector that you would suggest for some one who is in his 60s! Or is it better to buy XEG and forget about the basket of stocks in this sector?

Q: I am currently missing the following 6 stocks from the model portfolio: Amaya, Ciniplex, First Service, Magna, MacDonald Dettweiler and WCP. Is this a good time to buy these companies? Or should I wait until you make changes at the end of March? I currently own a 1/2 position in XTC and wonder if I should just bump it up to a full position instead of buying magna? My full positions represent 4% of my Canadian equity portfolio, or 2% of my entire portfolio.

Q: With the way things are with oil and world politics, would you dip your toes back into the oil services sector?
Is it too early to invest 5-10% of my RRSP in them?

Thanks as always

Q: Good Morning Peter and Team, how significant is the US debt (~$18Trillion) in the US plan to raise interest rates ? Won't that minimize the rise rate over the next years and keep all the dividend payers relatively strong ? or does the strength of the US economy override the extra interest they will pay ? Thanks, Paul

Q: I am up over 55% in less that a week on this stock in my RRSP which has taken a hit since Dec. from Bank stock and Energy stocks with over a 30% of total portfolio. I realize I did not diversify, as I always felt safe with these type of investments.
I sold $12000 of Royal bank after the quarterly dividend and invested in Concordia which has netted me $17000.00 as of today with the stock currently off $3.72, and dropping at the moment
I am concerned that cxr will probably pull back for profit taking, however if cxr is a roll up story, like csu, would it not make sense to hold on, or should I sell half or all, and wait for a proper pull back to get back in.

I listened to the ceo of cxr about how the fundamentals of the new company are accreditive, as well as his goals going forward. Very impressive to say the least

I know 5i highlighted this company in the past, and really would appreciate your thoughts going forward

Thanks for your awesome service.

Q: Hi Peter,

The company launch their breaksports app and it is getting a lot of attention because it is a takeover candidate. Can you give me more information about the company like revenue/profit growth and insider buying. In addition, is it a good entry point.

Q: I am considering Tma or Tfi in the transportation sector. Which do you favour at current prices for income and growth, or would you have another choice. I have no stocks in this category at present. Thank you, Barrie
