Q: With today's announcement of the mega-merger between Shell and BG, along with the inevitable fall in the price of oil to the $30 range due to increased production by Saudi Arabia and dwindling storage capacity, I am interested in your opinion on possible take-over candidates in the Canadian energy sector, especially in well-established mid-cap companies. Your opinion please? Thank you.

Q: Hi team, I was just looking for a replacement bond for a recent maturity and I found a %4.00 First National bond maturing in 2020, but without any rating on this bond. I realize there is always an interest risk going out 5 years, but I continue to use a bond ladder ranging from 2015 to 2022 as I think a person should still hold some bonds. I am not afraid of buying individual bonds, just have never bought one from this company. Thoughts? or should stop buying individuals bonds and go to an ETF. Thanks again for you great help.

Q: At a 14.8 percent dividend yield, this looks like a fantastic stock. What would be the negatives in owning this stock? I am in my late 40's and don't need the dip into it for at least another 15 years or so.

Q: Hi guys, for educational reasons only.
Why is CPD selling off. Is it the fear of higher interest rates.
It seems excessive to me. Thanks for all you do.

Q: I am at the point where bond maturities are reducing my interest revenue yet do not want to be overexposed to equities (currently at 50% - I am retired). Bond yields are very low. What strategy do I take? Do I reinvest in short-term Bonds hoping for the return of decent interest rates or move up the risk curve and use bond-like equities for better yield?

Q: Is Stantec STN a screaming buy, or what? It has not traded this deeply below the 200 day moving average since 2008. The last time it fell below the 200 dma was July 2012. It is at the bottom of its trading range. The markets are heating up. The last few trading days STN has been up on the technical indicators. And it is one of the rare A-rated companies. How badly can we do buying STN at this time?

Q: I hold these stocks in my cash acct. Each is down about 50%.
Although I don't need to sell them at this time, should I look at getting rid of one or more. Inventory issues and other questions about the future for the sector make me question holding them for another year or two.
Thanks for the advice

Q: Which one of the following do you think has the highest growth potential in the next 3 years without being too risky?
CXI
AYA
PHM
I normally don't buy stocks that don't have a dividend, but I'm looking to use one of my 20 CA stock positions to add a little zip. Perhaps there's a better pick apart from these 3? cheers
