Q: Could I have your thoughts on Mercer overall? It seems cheap and looks like a value play in a stock universe where value is increasingly difficult to find. Also could you comment on currency tailwinds that might benefit them in the near and medium term. And am I right to say that the Canadian equity seems to have very low trading volume or is it close to none for some reason that I have missed? Thank-you.

Q: I have significant positions (and losses) in my RRSP in BDI, STN and HCG that I note you have removed them from your model portfolio.
Would I be better to trim or eliminate from my RSP and put this into positions that I have not previously held from that portfolio such as ATD.B, WSP and BIN ?
(I am already well overweight in Financials and Tech, and do hold 12 of the 21 companies in that portfolio.)
Thanks for your help. My portfolios have done very well on your advice and I anticipate continued success!

Q: Hello Peter and 5i team.
I have significant losses in my Energy positions in my RRSP and have previously asked for your help in rebalancing my Financials, Tech, and Energy positions 30%, 40% and 15% the latter down from 30% last year before the energy crunch.
My questions today and I am asking for your advice on what is left in the portfolio; namely BAD, BDI, and SGY that have all been down 40-50%.
Would you continue to hold?
Replace with other Energy stocks?
Or sell and avoid the sector completely until a recovery is underway.
Thanks for all the help!!

Q: I need help with strategy. I want to sell these stocks ( AC, GPS, MTSN, NLN, QST and TWD) to make room for stocks from the new growth portfolio. Is there some timing stratagem I can employ or do I “Just Do It”. GPS & QST & MSTN are at rock bottom and I think can only go up if I wait. NLN could bounce up (or down) 10% on any given day. TWD was always just a lark. AC has upward momentum currently. BUT! All the stocks on the new list I want to buy could all be going up too. What to do? Any advice on how to approach this will be welcome.
Q: Further to Greg's question today, you suggested shifting some of his money to more blue chip dividend paying names. Could you give us a few names you would recommend at this time.
Thanks as always.

Q: The plan of arrangement for Repsol to take over TLM has two options for Shareholders. 1)To receive the equivalent Cdn$ of $8US in cash. or 2) To receive $8US Cash. Based on these two options which one is best at this time considering the low Cdn$ relative to the US$. Of course any capital gain or loss would have to be taken in Cdn$
Q: I would like to invest in a company directly in Transportation or related to this sector with good growth potential and would appreciate your recommendation. Thanks.

Q: As far as charts, I've always used http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/. I can clearly read the technical indicators I need, such as RSI, MACD, OBV, and the moving averages. I also like how I can compare stocks on the same graph.
Something I found startling is that when I compare a stock such as Constellation CSU or Stella-Jones SJ, or some others, with any good etf, e.g. CDZ, CSU totally blows an etf out of the water. You can't compare a great stock to a good etf. Makes me wonder why anyone is buying etfs when they can buy a basket of great stocks recommended by 5i.

Q: Hello,
Members who experienced the technical outage last Tuesday at TD Waterhouse (WebBroker) might be interested to know that I emailed td.waterhousecompliance@td.com and told them the delay in one of my trades cost me an estimated $156.00 as the stock fell during the day. The agent said there is no policy to reimburse clients under the circumstances, but he did, as a "courtesy", reimburse the commission and gave me a $100 cash credit. He said if the trading platform is down, the only recourse is to call in the trade. He acknowledged the wait times were very long.

Q: I am significantly overweight in Financials and would like your advice on trimming/rebalancing in my RSP portfolio.
I currently have 35 % in the following: BMO, BNS,CM,NA, RY,TD in the backs, SLF and GWO in insurance - all with significant gains, and HCG and CF in other financials with a moderate loss position.
Would you trim all positions or eliminate several companies?
Where should I rebalance into companies in your new growth portfolio?
Thank you for this advice!
Peter
