Q: I know that your primary focus is on growth stocks, of which Torstar is not one. But, i was wondering what your thoughts are regarding its recent acquisition of VerticalScope. You were happier about Torstar when it acquired some cash. But, some seem to think that they have squandered their cash with this purchase. It has dropped almost 12 percent today. But, the dividend yield is now also close to 12 percent. Looks tempting, even if there is not a lot of growth. So, in your view, are they positioning themselves for the future, as they say, or squandering their assets, as some others seem to think? And is it worth buying now or better to wait to see what happens?

Q: My former broker stuffed my RSP with some Sprott funds which I have now sold at an aggregate loss of 55%. I am now left with some Sentry Funds to dispose of . I ask herein about one in particular : it is SENTRY SELECT PRIMARY METALS CORP CL-A SH (PME) . PME has lost 64% of its value. I don't understand how this fund makes money. It pays a good dividend -- but is that return of capital. Fees seem high.
I read your comment of Jan 27 on PME. Do you hold the same view you expressed then? Given the huge drop in PME, do you think I should just keep it OR do you have other better ideas? I surmise from this forum that you suggest most people should hold a bit of gold. I know nothing about gold and would be thankful for suggestions . I would also be OK keeping PME as is , IF , in your opinion, holding PME is optimal given the loss already sustained in PME.

Q: Peter et al.:
What is your opinion of the Bondholders agreement that was released yesterday? Will this result in an increase in the share price in the long term since the risk of bankruptcy has been reduced based on my interpretation? I know that the oil market is still in the dog house and this will be the biggest factor. They have had good success with Huntington since the CATS pipeline has restarted so they actually have cash flow now. Your opinion is much appreciated. Hopefully my lottery ticket is now worth 5 or 10 tickets now lol.
Regards,
Brendan

Q: How much weight should be put on adjusted earnings per share as opposed to earnings per share? It seems that many companies find ways to make adjustments so that the adjusted earnings are significantly higher than earnings. I can rationalize how netting out amortization might be reasonable especially if the rate of amortization does not reflect the expected life of whatever is being amortized, but is also reasonable to net out acquisition related expenses (which are actual monetary expenses)? If it is, then shouldn't the adjusted earnings be a good news story rather than worrying about the actual earnings? If not why bother with all the adjustments?
Q: Hi Team,
The numbers I saw looked good in today's quarterly report. Do you agree?
Thank you.

Q: Hi 5.Regarding that Beacon buy rating, anyone relying on it should also know that Beacon participated in PHM's last financing and it is in their interest that the stock goes up. All part of the game.
Q: Oh boy......should I be worried? Another big miss
Q: Can you comment on the federal reserve's decision today? I think it is mostly expected, but what kind of affect would it have on the market? Specifically for Canada as it appears we're heading the opposite direction and China with its growth concerns. Will it have an impact on the commodities sector as a whole given that Canada is heavily weighted in commodities?
Q: Beacon Security issued buy rating today for PHM. Below is the report for anyone who is interested in reading. Cheers!

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA--(Marketwired - Jul 29, 2015) - Patient Home Monitoring Corp. Q: Would you recommend buying into more PHM at this point? I bought a half postion at $1.50. From the comments you've made so far it seems that you're still confident in PHM, and that the massive drop in share price the past week is unwarranted. If that's the case this could be a good buying opportunity in a panicked market.
