Q: Hi 5i team .
can you update your opinion on MEQ ?, on a P/E seems very cheap (it does not pay a dividend). analysts are expecting good growth in NOI for the next two years. How safe it is ?.

Q: A recent Dundee analyst-Mr Blondeau, when commenting on Chartwell Seniors, said they will have an acquisition capacity of about $500 million following the sale of their US portfolio. He said, "In our opinion, one of our favourite names Regal REIT, is an ideal take-over candidate, given the size of the (real estate operating company)and the quality of its portfolio," he said. I would appreciate you view on this analysts comments. Thank you

Q: Please give your comments on ZST as an ETF to compliment XBB & CBO which I already own. Is this a good ETF to hold while waiting for a BOC increase? Also, can you explain why CBO & ZST share prices slowly erode over time while XBB has slow gains?
Thanks,
Tom

Q: 5i
Is it still a favourable time to invest in U.S. Stocks . I currently don't have any U.S. Stocks but have been quite pleased with the majority of my Canadian stocks . I'm wondering though that maybe it's time to branch out south of the border . Is it a concern when purchasing U.S. stocks that the Canadian dollar has dropped so much thus making U.S. stocks more expensive to buy or does it all balance out in the end when the stocks are sold and converted back to Canadian dollars ?
That being said what are your thoughts on Wab , sna , and fisv . Buy , hold or sell ?
Thanks
Bill

Q: I have a small position (2%) in Senvest stock, which is a montreal-based value hedge fund. They have been growing book value quickly, recently to $305 while the share price is about $190. Barron's just listed them as #2 in their top 100 hedge funds ranking. I'm wondering if you have heard of these guys and whether you endorse them as fund managers or have heard otherwise, because I am thinking of taking it up to a 4% allocation. Thanks!

Q: Hi Peter ... I'm looking for another stock for my TFSA which currently includes BEP.UN, CCL.B, ET, XTC, HCG, BIN and MDA. I am looking at both CNR and CLR which have each pulled back around 20% recently. Which of the two would you prefer over the next 1-2 years? Or, perhaps you have a better suggestion? Thanks for the great service.

Q: How do you feel about Open Text (OTC) now that it appears they are going to announce their second quarter in a row with a fairly large miss? Is the growing earnings per share story broken or just taking a breather?

CIBC's Investor's Edge, has 2016 eps estimates currently at $3.91. If I lop off 30 cents of that to take into account the downward 2016 eps revisions and assume the shareprice will fall close to $55 tomorrow, I get a 2016 p/e of 15.23. Worth holding?

Whats your best ballpark "guestimate" as to the new 2016 revised earnings for OTC?

Thanks, as always.

John

Q: hi folks

further to an earlier email on element with respect to mgmt

I remember when newcourt and steve hudson had their heyday in financing in the 1990's and early 2000's

from my recollection there was a lot of 'creative accounting' (a term updated recently to "financial engineering")

question: in light of this 2.2BB issue today (which increases the company capital structure by almost 40%) what makes anyone believe that this mgmt is any more competent than when they near bankrupted newcourt?

one thing of interest being they didn't borrow the whole 2.2bb

comments?

thanks for your insight

robert
