Q: I have 2% position in non-RRSP portfolio. Bought it 2 years ago at around $35, it is at the same price now. Considering low dividend and "lost" 2 years, do you suggest keeping it or changing to something with more growth potential? I also hold 2% positions each in XLI.US, SJ and WSP - unfortunately, I bough these just recently... If you were to rate STN today, would you still rate it as "A"?

Q: hi folks:

what would be your "most likely to stay in business at any o/g price" picks for energy service/driller companies

small medium and large

low debt and survivorability is paramount; not interested in "the most debt therefore the best leverage to recovery" type companies

thanks

Q: Peter and team,

Merry Christmas! I've been thinking of some stocks outside Canada and the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy group is on my radar. Their long term chart and divide look good. What are your thoughts on this one?

PS. The rest of my equity portfolio (80% of total)is similar to the 5i model balanced equity portfolio and I have 20 percent of my total invested in short term bonds (cbo and clf) and floating rated HFR.

To fund this purchase, I was thinking of taking down my 5% weighting in HFR.

Thanks!

Q: I am down about 25% on IPL and was considering a switch to ALA(down about the same) . Energy and infrastructure are also represented by ENB, TOU and VET in a sector balanced long term hold portfolio. Could you please comment and compare the two.

Thanks as always

Phil

Q: My weighting in pipelines is 7.1%. In a recent response to a question, you suggested pipelines be considered as part of the energy section, as pipelines are reacting to the decreases in crude oil prices. My pipelines positions are AX.un, ENB, iPL, KEY, and PPL. With a sector weighting for “genuine” utilities of 5%, I would like your suggestion of a few key names that I could consider for this sector within a diversified portfolio……Thanks….Tom

Q: A question about Purpose ETF (ex; PDF); in particular the corporate class funds. The implication is that even highly taxed interest income (or foreign dividend) can be distributed as a capital gain (less tax). I was under the impression that this would change and be now off limits ?
Thanks

Q: Hello Peter and team;

In the Globe & Mail today, under the heading of Stock Analysis, they did some number crunching on some U.S. Insurance Companies.

In my U.S. portfolio i am looking to add a U.S. Insurance company. Out of the 4 companies they highlighted, which one would you recommend for growth, and value?

Thanks

Stephen

Q: First best to the season to you.

I was wondering about your general thoughts on Shaw, now that the Wind purchase had rattled the stock price. Is this good for Shaw in the future, and is the current price one to consider it a buy now?
Is the duel stock structure a big hindrance to the growth of the stock price?
As always, thanks..
