Q: Hi there

Corby is off about 10% from its highs earlier this year. I don't see any significant news. Just wondering if that is because of perceived interest rate increases coming later this year? I was thinking of adding to my small position to bring it up to a 5% weighing for income. Any thoughts on the company and this move?

Q: Not sure what happened, I submitted the following question last week (can't remember exactly which date, sorry) but still no answer, in case it was missed, here it is again:

We have ala, arx, cos, cpg, sgy, wcp in our energy allocation, currently approx 7% of portfolio, besides ala & arx which we held a few years already, others are down 20-60%, we are not too concerned, plan to ride out the downturn as is.

Just wondering in your view, is there any better energy names you would recommend to swap for better gain during upturn and at the same time, log some capital loss for future gain?

Thanks

Q: There is possibility that next year there will be a minority Ndp/Liberal government in Ottawa. As a result it could be detrimental to the Canadian dollar, banks & telcos, etc.
Although the U.S dollar now is over $1.30 is it too late to switch say 50% of one's holdings in the above to the U. S. ie sell 50% of Bce Royal buy At&T &J P Morgan

Q: Peter & Team
I hold equal amounts of G, FM, and SLW in a well balanced taxable account with a 10 year plus time horizon.Down about 40 to 45% on each.

Over the long haul I am a believer in commodities, but also subscribe to your "lost opportunity" theory of not having dead money around.

What are your thought on selling two of the three and concentrating holdings into one of the companies.Which would be the "safest" (dividends etc.) over the long haul. I was leaning towards selling FM and SLW and investing proceeds in to G.

Thanks for a wonderful service!

Q: Avo issued shs 11/13 at $78.00 now $33.57
Acq 07/14 at $24.10 now $15.93
Phm 05/15 at $ 1.50 now $ 1.07
Drt 06/15 at 8.35 now $ 7.01

Should shareholders reduce their position when small/mid cap companies issue additional shs?
Could you alert us when you are aware that companies you cover intend to issue additional shares?

Q: With oil having dropped over 50% and no signs of recovery, how secure are the dividends from the pipelines if prices stay low (or go lower) for the next couple years? Could you rank IPL, PPL, ALA and ENF in terms of dividend sustainability and provide your rationale?

Thank you

Q: Is now a good time to buy Facebook? Is there much room for more growth with this stock? What is the long term outlook?

Q: We have ala, arx, cos, cpg, sgy, wcp in our portfolio, total less than 7% overall which we are comfortable with.

Except for ala and arx (held a few years), all others are down significantly (20% to 60%), our plan is to ride out the energy down turn.

In your opinion, is there any name(s) listed you would swap with better quality energy stock to position for better gain during upturn and log a capital loss for future use.

Thanks

Q: Good day,
Peter is quoted in the Globe thusly “If you’re an institutional shareholder and you come in and management owns a lot of shares, then the financing closes and management doesn’t own a lot of shares, that’s when you say: ‘I don’t want this stock and I don’t want this company; I’m going to ditch whatever shares I have.’” In light of this, are you advising people to dump PHM? Because your previous statements said nothing has materially changed with the company, which I took to mean it was still worth buying...

Q: I am a proxy for a friends account, his advisor was charging him 1 per cent, but in the account were some stocks and 2 mutual funds with a fee of between 1.5 and 2.5 per cent on top of the 1 per cent of money under management not to mention maybe a trailer fee for putting the money in the fund. since you are independent what do you think of this practice and how pervasive is it.dave

Q: Why are costs of producing gold now in the 800$ + range compared to say early 2000s and before when gold was trading well below current level and presumaly poduction costs were significantly lower. I understand inflation but I suppose methods of extraction have also improved. You general comments would be appreciated. Thank you.

Q: Hi 5i, On many occasions you have indicated that you like to watch earnings and interest rates when it comes to your view on where the overall market might be heading. Could I please have your updated market view based on what we have seen from Q2 earnings season and the Fed comments of Wednesday.
Thanks Rob
