Q: Hi 5i team, Please give me your view on the results from HOT.UN. Does this holding have much opportunity for share price appreciation or is it just an income play? Do you prefer something similar instead? Thanks Rob

Q: I was looking at a book on asset allocation.
They defined several asset classes within 3 categories: stocks, bonds, and "real assets".
There are 4 asset classes in the "real assets" category: TIPS, Commodities, Gold and REITs.
My question is regarding what vehicles I can use in Canada for the "real assets" asset classes.
TIPS: XRB?
Commodities: XMA? I don't like the market cap weighting. POT and AGU weigh in at about 25%
Gold: CGL? (I would probably avoid this asset class)
REITs: XRE? Or just buy 3 REITs and avoid the fee?

Thanks,

Mike

Q: Intrinsyc released Q3 yesterday and the results and outlook appear strong. The company was also named as a top 20 public tech company and is presenting at next weeks CIX Tech Investor conference in Toronto. What are you thoughts on ITC as a micro cap tech opportunity given the company's strong balance sheet.

Q: Please comment on today's results. Would your view of the company change in view of the recent quarterly results or is too early to determine if this is the beginning of a growth trend. Thanks.

Q: Hey Peter & Team,

I bought a full position 2 years ago @ $19. Enjoyed a good dividend but eventually lost patience with the Capital Gains expectations and the lack of prospects for a positive future and sold in April @ $21.28.

Today I saw recent results and they looked very good with metrics being up across the board and interestingly enough, much of the success attributed to the stronger U$.

I would like to hear your thoughts on the results and, considering we can expect the U$ to remain strong for the foreseeable future, if you think renewing my position at these levels is a good idea or a bad one?

Thanks for all you do

Gord

ps... been sitting on 50% cash since Aug which is why all of a sudden back I have so many questions. I think we could see some recovery happening for many undervalued stocks after the recent correction in the new year. Trick is finding those undervalued companies.

Q: Can you explain to the less educated why SPB should be selling off when they declare to pay out the debentures at 7.5% in this low interest environment, I would have thought that was good thing, but obviously the market does not agree me, I guess this is an opportunity to add to my position.

Q: Further to Patricia's question: WEQ management has announced that it may pursue "transactions to improve WesternOne's current capital structure, including assessing alternatives for the outstanding convertible debentures." In the conference call, they suggested that everyone knows what sort of transactions they're talking about. So what are they talking about?

Q: I own the following REITS for income: DIR.UN, AAR.UN, SRU.UN, AX.UN, HR.UN. I own about the same % in each REIT, and they are in balanced proportion to the rest of my portfolio. I have no intention of adjusting my total REIT proportion as a whole, but rather treat them like a home-made ETF. I will hold for a long time frame, can weather some dips, but, I only want to hold high quality REITS and preferably nothing in Alberta in case oil companies have to start letting their office spaces go. Could you comment on my list for quality, and suggest any you would see as a sell. Would it be better to cut down the number of REITS and add the funds to one or more of the others? Or, on the other hand, is there something I am missing to complete my "ETF". Thanks very much.

Q: My current utilities allocation is 7.4% spread over BEP.UN, ALA, and PPL. Can you please suggest a forth holding for stability and dividend growth that would be suitable to pick up at current prices?

Thanks,

Stephen
