Q: I am interested in starting a position in this company. Just wondering what stock symbol to use--- BYD.un seems to have much lower volume that BYD.DB.A.

This company seems to be having great success by consolidating small family owned units into the Boyd family. Is there another stock that comes to mind that is successful with the same approach ?

Q: Exco Resources (XCO)is down more than 50% today. They announced a review of strategic alternatives. Can you provide your opinion on whether to continue to hold or sell given that it looks like the markets are signaling worst case?

Thanks again - John C

Q: I have been holding TOU for the past year so I am still underwater even though it has recovered a bit this year. I recently reduced my position by about 25% thinking that the recovery in the energy sector would be short lived and I wante d to take some money off the table and maybe add later at a lower price.

Since then, TOU and other low cost gas producers have continued to go up so now I am a bit confused considering that nat gas prices continue to be weak. Can you please shed some light on the current dynamics in the nat gas market and your outlook for TOU.

Thank you.

Q: Peter,

I recently bought shares in Vecima networks. The company reported today with highest revenues and earnings "in recent history". (below)

This company seems to have a lot going for it including low P/E ratio, growing earnings and revenue streams and nice dividend and occasional unannounced surprise dividends.

Two questions: [1] what is the company's specific market niche as a broadband provider (what does it do that other companies doesn't) or is its growth just a function of growing need for bandwidth, streaming, data. [2] What would it take to bring this company out from under the radar and capture the attention of more analysts/investors?

Thanks for your excellent service!

Q: I've had my eye on this one for a while. Too bad I did not buy when I came upon it? I tend not to buy small companies that are valued on growth because the landscape is littered with companies that fall faster then they rise when things do not go right. This comp. seems incredibly over valued to me: TTM PE of 27, FPE of 25, 7x book value. Even with an ROE of 20 & PEG ratio over one? It's EPS is very small - so, earning on a cash basis must be a fair bit higher. I'd like to buy - maybe? I prefer dividend growers as well. How liquid is the stock which is important to me because I like to hold good size positions. I did well with BAD & ACQ which were growth stocks: 3 x my money - so, I do like a bit of growth.

Q: If you could give me your thoughts on these 2 etf's RSX.US and FXI.US, as they seem to be cheap, and they pay a decent dividend. Russia seems to be a play on energy and going through a recession, and China a play on manufacturing, also slowing down, can these two countries be added to a portfolio for growth long term(5-10years)? Your thoughts! Also will I have to pay 15% withholding to the Americans for these 2 country specific ETF's, and is their a way to avoid paying the Americans dividend withholding for other country specific ETF's?
