Q: I have not reduced my position in csu and was wondering whether a reduction in csu and an addition to my portfolio of gib would make sense at this time...not that i dislike csu and not that i have 23% in the information tech sector, i just think that there may be a better long term investment in a lower priced tech stock like gib...could i have your valuable advise on this matter and thank you for a great service
Q: What are your thoughts on PPY.? It's up 14% this morning and I see TD Securities has upgraded it to an action buy list with a target price of $12.00
Q: I'm currently taking a bath with FM (First Quantum) and thinking of swapping it for THO. You paint a "bleak" picture of FM this morning with emphasis on debt, but there's nothing recent on THO. Could you provide your current opinion on THO?
Q: Can you give a possible list of 10-15 companies ranked in order from top to bottom that would be worth buying during the short selling season (Now till mid Dec). Obviously ones that have been beaten up unfairly and/or too cheap to ingnore that may nicely pop up in value in the new year?
I would like to increase my REIT from 4.5% to 6% in my RRIF portfolio(Equally divided between ZRE and XRE) and notice that both do not have CSH.UN and FCR
Questions
a) Is it good time increase position in REIT?
b) GAZIT owns 42.8% of FCR, how do you view this?
c) Which one will you choose?
Thanks
Q: Hi, what are your comments in CGI earnings ? Looks like a nice beat on all metrics. Based on the current bookings and backlog, do you think, company is showing positive signs of stable growth? Last quarter, stock sold off due to market concerns about future growth !!! Thanks
There was an interesting article in the Globe and Mail this morning on the subject of Restaurant Royalty Trusts. What are you thoughts on these type of trusts such as PZA and AW.UN? Is there an etf that covers most of them and is this a better way to go? If not, would you recommend any individual name? Thanks
Francesco
Q: Seems like a good quarter recently, does the stock get the credit it deserves, Would you sell on the recent run .Also is it safe to hold Reits with the Feds looking to increase interest rates. Than again if Canada doesn't raise rates how would it effect there borrowing .
Q: I can't find the article you wrote about dividend investing that mentioned a company initiating a dividend is a very good sign. Could you please help me find the article. And would EFN thus qualify as a good buy now? Thank you.
I apologize for asking all the US equity questions as I appreciate you have said many times it is a challenge to cover both north and south of the border BUT... the US appears to be the place to be right now if we are going to enjoy some success.
I bought TWX @ $64 and have held it for almost 2 years. There has recently been some "not so great" news coming out of this company and this sector in general as the landscape in US Media appears to be going through some changes.
I did sell 50% of my position @ $88.61 in July and now feel very happy I did so.
It is always wise to buy & sell on news and my question now is should I consider getting out completely all things considered and look elsewhere or, hang tough? And have you noticed any further rumors about a take over as this has been an item for some time?
And if I do sell, where would you suggest I look to reinvest the capital? I have approx 40% of my portfolio is U$ and presently own WFC, APPL, DIS, MCK & CBI which I am patiently treading water with.
Q: any thoughts on cvd equipment? i see it mentioned from time to time in reference to graphene plays, it seems like the company has a good balance sheet and decent earning and tight share structure, any thoughts? thanks
Q: Hi, could you please comment on Boyd Group earnings released this morning. Also, with respect to co's recent decision to redeem all debentures maturing next year, assuming all holders decide to exercise conversion options to units of common shares, what will be total dilution ? Is it material, based on expected growth in earnings? Thanks
Q: Your thoughts on earnings please. They seem to have a decent, if partial, hedge on oil through 2016, and have indicated that the dividend is safe through 2016. Thanks
Q: I'm looking for Canadian blue chip stocks on the order of BAM.A and WN that in themselves are like mini-etfs. Are there many others like those? I know there are companies such as EIF that acquire diverse businesses, but I'm looking more for the blue chip category. I've owned CSU for quite a while, which I consider the kind of blue chip I'm interested in, since it it solid and serves every sector in many countries. Thank you.
Q: Overall, I have a faily well balanced portfolio based on your Balanced Equity model. However, my TFSA is now a bit of a disaster and, after Amaya's (AYA) results today, is firmly in the red. Not a place I like to be. In addition to AYA, I also own Concordia (CXR), Currency Excahnge (CXI), Macdonald Dettwiller (MDA), and Boyd. Thank goodness I own Boyd since I have large losses in the other positions.
What to do? I need to get back into my comfort zone. I have a 2-3 year horizon so unless these companies are set to recover in that time frame, I am prepared to move on.
I'd appreciate your comments and recommendations. Michael
