Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: I always find myself fully invested and when an opportunity presents itself..for example Aya..I don't have cash to invest. How much cash should one hold in an account? Is it OK to borrow to invest? How does one make a decision to sell one to purchase another? Thanks.

Q: Surprised by the drop in price after what appears to be solid results. Something I am missing maybe no dividend increase.

Q: Hi Peter & team,
I have nothing in healthcare and would like to initiate a 5% position in my RRIF. Is XCR too risky for the moment? How about GUD? Maybe 2.5% in each? Thanks

Q: Hello:
I am looking for a stable div payer with potential for some price appreciation when interest
rates climb. Could you comment on POW, GWO & MFC. What would be your choice of these or do you have a better suggestion. I own Sun Life.
Thank you: Jerry

Q: Hi 5i Team,

I am slowly moving to copy the model balanced portfolio. The names I do not yet own are AYA, CGX, DSG, G, SIS, SYZ and WCP.
In what order would you suggest I purchase these names I do not already own?

Thanks

Q: Hi In May of 2013 the US had started to telegraph the raising of interest rates. Most income stocks like REIT's were hit hard for an extended time. Do you think that in Dec when it is possible for rates to rise that we may see the same scenario again.

Q: DR had a less than stellar report today, and the stock price has taken a big hit. Would you consider it a "buy" at the current price, with dividend income being the main purpose? Do you consider the dividend reasonably safe, or not so much so? Is this report possibly indicative of things to come?

Thank-you

Q: First, in your response to the question about pipeline holdings, you mentioned Pembina raised their dividend this year. Did you mean Interpipeline, which just raised theirs recently?
What is the future of Brookfield Renewables and how will solar impact it's use over the next decade? I want to put this into a RRSP and just keep it - nice dividend - but I don't want a dated product.
Thanks.

Q: DR released their results today with income from continuing operations down 11.1 percent compared to a year ago. Was this expected with the sale of the Dakota Plains Surgical Center? Thanks
