Q: I am underwater 4.1% on VET and 6.7% on DRG.UN. Is this because of the recent crisis in France? We do need the income, but is this the time to sell, or should I hold? If I sell, I'll have over $70,000 to invest. Can you give me some dividend paying Canadian names to look at. We already have all the major banks,MST,SRU,AX,HR,DRG,HOT,CSH reits, BIP.UN,BEP.UN,PKI,NFI,NWC,EMA,NPI,FTS,BCE,T > Many thanks.

Q: I am a 72 year old income investor. I currently have 17% of my portfolio in "Pipelines/Utilities" including ENB 5.8%; TRP 2.7%; IPL 2%; PPL 2.7%; ALA 2.9%; VSN 1.2%; all held for several years. My questions are 1. How do I allocate each of these between Pipelines and Utilities? 2. Would you recommend consolidating some of these to fewer names? Thanks for your great service.

Q: I have to ask as I am still holding my WIN (wrong symbol for sure). You mentioned holding until the shareholder base changed and new investors buy in. How long do you think this process will take and do you expect it to recover to over $1.50 in the short term? In hindsight, I should have sold on news and joined the rush out. Management should be fired for what they have done to this company.

Q: Hi there,

I wanted to comment on one of your member's comments on his losses on individual 5i stocks. I too have been a member for a very long time and the one thing I have learned is to stick with a disciplined portfolio approach rather than just trying to pick stocks from your portfolios. This has led me to consistently better overall results over a number of years. Some stocks have gone done at times and recovered at other times. But it is the 'stick with it' portfolio approach which has led to better than market returns. Thanks for all that you do.

Publish at your own discretion.

Q: Is it not incumbent for any firm such as SeekingAlpha making accusations to have solid evidence prior to making accusations in support of short selling? Should there not be recourse against both the accuser and possibly the promotors of a class action law suit. If there is no back up evidence of wrong doing, shareowners should consider legal action? How reputable is SeekingAlpha?

Can you provide guidance as to whether I should take my losses in stride?

Thank you

Q: My biggest (>40%) on paper “losers” in a non-registered account are: SGY, TOU, PHM, SCL, and AVO. They are each between 1% and 2% of the portfolio.

My biggest (>100%) on paper “winners” are : CSU and ATD.B.

I don’t have any capital gains to offset this year since I have not sold anything. Does it make any sense to trigger a tax loss for the sake of it since it could be used in the future (and nothing to carry the loss back to either)? If I sold any of the above “losers” I probably would not be in any hurry to buy them back, if at all. I can hang onto them as I still kind of believe they are still good, but you refer to the opportunity cost of holding onto them. Not sure if I should create a loss for the sake of it, and maybe take some profits on the winners since they are up quite a bit.

Q: I know the Amaya insider trading investigation has gone quiet since last summer, but I think your updated report on the company ought to have mentioned it as a Key Risk since no one knows where it is going or how long it will take or how it will influence regulators in jurisdictions where they hope to open up the business. The CEO's computer was seized by authorities after all.

Q: Well, CXI is yet another 5i stock that went sour, I am at over 30% loss on this one (same as with AVO, HSE, AYA, and many others). Don't get me wrong, I like your service and have been using it for 3 years. Yet, my losses on 5i stocks exceed my gains even though I used to hold most of the stocks that you recommended. I understand that it is all about the right timing and the point of entry, so here is my recommendation: I would be very useful for subscribers if in the "5i summary portfolio" updates you would indicate the current level of confidence (based on timing on your last review and market events since) of your rating and risk level given current market/sector conditions. It would also be helpful is you add these parameters in your answers to subscriber's questions when you answer "it remains our favorite stock in the sector", "we would still rate it as buy", etc. I also question your practice of publishing portfolio returns for your overall portfolio (YTD and "since inception") , when you remove underperforming stocks (e.g. FM) from your portfolios and obviously disregard all losses there, the great results you publish are not really that representative in this context.

Q: Now that it is getting closer to the Suncor offer deadline, do you still hold the same opinion for COS share holders not to do anything?

What do you think of the chance for Suncor to up or extend the offer in the next couple of weeks or do you think that window has passed?

Thanks
