Q: I’m presently thinking I just may hold on to my COS although I think SU is far better company to hold but I paid too much for my COS to sell it down here when I think when oil recovers so will COS with less shares being traded on a daily basis.

COS has a good Asset or SU wouldn’t want to increase their portion of the Oil Sands.

I think after the Offer closes if in fact SU gets enough COS shares submitted for them to accept them, there will be less shs of COS in the marketplace. It will likely drop off to about say $4.00 while oil is low and if it does, I’ll average down.

When Oil recovers so will COS. It won’t get anywhere close to what I paid but if I can average down when I think COS gets low enough to buy to average down I won’t lose as much as tendering my shs to SU.

COS can always do a New Issue to bring their shs to a half decent level besides giving them cash to benefit their operating expenses. SU isn't going to be selling so a New Issue may be successfully done.

This may just be the best thing that could happen favouring the COS shareholders.

Now give me your opposing argument to this flakey idea. Tomorrow I just may change my mind but at the moment I think I favour this idea.
Thx Fellows - don't be afraid to be brutally critical - in fact I'd appreciate it.

Q: If our new federal government does not change the TFSA contribution rules before the end of this year, can investors contribute another $10K on January 1, 2016?

New rules (even if I don't like them), I can understand: hence wanting to invest before it happens which I consider likely, albeit ill advised.

But rolling back the contribution limits after the fact sounds like an administrative nightmare; and inviting a nasty backlash and serious pushback from voters of all political stripes.

Thanks for your perspective.

Q: Apologies for asking yet another TCN question (you always get company questions waves) but I'm trying to wrap my head around the current price with thoughts of adding more. Except for the recent ok quarter isn't it a perfect buy for w/most of its income in US$ and a bright young leadership ? Does the upcoming .25% interest rate increase change the landscape that much ? Thanks to you I bought mid $7s, sold ~$11 and then bought again last week at $9 which looked like support. I have no complaints at all; nothing but thanks; just trying to understand.

Q: With Progressive in the "Penalty Bin" more of less of late I was looking at buying. I note from a recent response that the cash flow per share is expected to grow at something like 30% over the next two years. What is the source of the improved cash flow - fuel prices have been low for a year, their route network must be somewhat optimized, I can't imagine that there will be that much more garbage and recycling or is it that they will just be spending less on maintenance and growth capital? Thanks for the great insights!

Q: Your only comment on AirIQ was two years ago (Dec/2013), since then the stock has doubled and appears to have turned itself around with a new CEO at the helms. Please comment on their Q2 F2016 financials. Management/directors have incentive with a good chunk of ownership (30%), as well, Mosaic Capital owns over 18% of the company. Do you any insights on Mosaic, would it be an accretive acquisition for Mosaic to take them out? Plunk on your nano “cap” and give me your opinion. ;) Thank you.

Q: I have an 81 year old friend who lives on CPP, OAS & GIS.......but has about $150K in a Bank a/c. Last Dec/31, his Bank convinced him to put $75K into a Laddered GIC @ $25k each for 1, 3 & 5 Year Terms. Prior to this, he simply had it all in a Checking a/c, NOT even a Savings a/c. He is very unsophisticated, with little education. I have arranged a Gift Annuity for him with Catholic Missions in Canada (CMIC) for $25K. In return for his Gift, he gets $1,580 per year Interest for rest of his life + a 1 Time $10K Tax Credit.
What can you recommend as simple investments for him for another $75K?

Thanks Kindly!

Q: Good Ryan and Pete,

Could you give me your thoughts on Tidewater Midstream and Infrastructure? Would you consider the people running the company to be competent managers and good value creators? Thanks!

Q: Hi Peter
I know you subscribe to not selling on news and holding on for corrections to correct themselves...has been good advice on many and saved some a lot of $9.99 fees by not being trigger happy and seeing recoveries. On other like CJR.B I am glad I did pull the trigger. For small positions in the 3 above that I am under water, I am wrestling with the ,if you wouldnt buy more, its a sell theory. I have some cash to invest and if I am not willing to average down by buying more of these three, are they then a sell or do any of them merit the "HOLD" recommendation?
Thanks for all you do
Dennis

Q: No questions on this one this year. I am considering re-entry in a small way to the resource sector. Parex has been a steady outperformer (up 40% ytd) so I'm giving it some thought. However, I note that in November there has been some selling from a number of insiders which causes me some concern given that it is not just selling by one (which as you often correctly say could be for any number of reasons).
Your thoughts on this stock would be much appreciated.
Thanks as always
Neil

Q: Hi Peter and Staff
In my pipeline holdings I had IPL and ENB as double what I had ALA,PPL,KEY and TRP. If I read things correctly, they may be more reliant on oil sands projects that the rest. Does it make sense to look at all of them equally going forward or is IPL still better than ALA,PPL,KEY and TRP going forward?
Thanks for all you do

Q: Good Morning, I'm topping up our TFSA's and am wondering if you could give me your top pick or two for a TFSA in the tech, healthcare, and consumer sectors. I currently own Constellation in my TFSA but don't have any healthcare. I'm looking to replace Dorel with something with better growth in the consumer sector. I'm also light on financials in my TFSA (I hold a bit of home capital) so if you think that's a better place to add new money I'm open to that as well. If this counts as two questions that's fine!
Thanks, for your advice. Rod

Q: Seems like this Company is growing Revenue and Income. Analysts have a very large growth in earnings for 2016. Good yield at 6.7% without return of capital I believe. Looks like the latest annual payout is around 70%, and I think quite sustainable. Debt due to acquisition rather than capital and dilution. Would You buy at this price for a long term hold or do you expect more downside in the near future.
