Q: Hi Peter & team. The company suspended the dividend on the common shares. These preferred CF.PR.A are to reset in September 2016. The formula for the reset rate is 321bp + GoC 5year-bond. Assuming the latter at 0.40% (is this a reasonable figure?), the yield at reset, based on the current share price, will be just over 10% (am I right?). I am wondering whether this represents good value and an opportunity for income. How would you assess the risk that the dividend be also suspended on the preferred? What are the general rules in that regard? Thanks for your excellent service.
Q: Reading the question and answers I know which stocks you favour. Two of them TNC (TIO) and DSG and ESP one that isn't a favourite of yours, seem to be lagging the pack on this recovery. In the case of TNC and ESP, the minute the markets get a bit weak they sell off a lot more than the rest of them. Are there any of these I should get out of the next time there is a bit of a run up? Thanks for your good advice. Dennis
Q: Hi 5i Research team,
About SIS analysis, qualitative (small-cap, key person risks) had the lowest grade on your report card. What would have been the overall rating without that characteristic? What would you like to see improve in order to increase your comfort level with SIS? Or is it pretty much as good as it gets for this size of company?
Have you meet management / what is your opinion of management? What could be the next catalysts to bring SIS to the next level? Based on cash on hand and the way the company is managed (focus on organic growth and small tuck-in acquistion), I do not expect many or large equity issues: therefore little interest from the broker/analysts community. Am I right?
Thank you for your collaboration, Eric

Q: Good afternoon,
I would appreciate your thoughts upon GPC. I am thinking of adding it to my US portfolio and your views upon it for an investment at this time as well as a potential entry point would be very helpful.
Thank you.

Q: Hi Team:
Interesting article in Saturday`s Globe about negative interest rates. I have held a # of Cdn
bank stocks for years & have benefited from their dividends & rarely check their stock prices. It is interesting to note the conflicting views in the article concerning the ramifications of going negative. If Canada joins the sub zero fraternity, what effect would this have on the shares of my Cdn Banks?
Thanks: Jerry

Q: How serious is the risk of competition from financial technology companies? If competition becomes a threat, would banks like bns not just buy the fintech companies? I would appreciate your thoughts.
Q: I appreciated Ryan's take on stocks that can benefit on the low Canadian dollar in your recent blog. Of the ones mentionned, I was wondering which would be the best buy at the moment, not considering the rest of one's asset distribution? I notice, for instance, that Blackcome has gone up quite a bit over the past year, while the others have fallen. I like the idea of something as solid as railway ties. I guess they will always be needed. But, maybe one of the others is a better buy at the moment.
As i say, asset mix is not a consideration at the moment. Also, in profiting from the American dividends, is it possible to get the dividends in US dollars straight out, or do the brokerages all convert them to Canadian?
thanks

Q: What do you think about the latest numbers from this company? The market always knows best in the long run but what about right now? Four years of train car orders seems like a pretty decent amount yet to me. THANKS
Q: I am looking into dipping my fingers in some marijuana stocks.
I have a few in mind e.g. OVI.A, OGI, CGC, APH, MT, ACB, GLH. Which ones should I buy?
Thank you!

Q: Hi there, could you provide an updated opinion on MVN. Thank you.
Q: How do you feel about adding some NYX at this price level? Management appear to be delivering and the value be unlocked based on guidance. I own NYX and believe it's undervalued here but i know you folks assess that much better than I. I think NYX gets too caught up in the negativity associated with companies like AYA and IT but it's really quite a different business. Would you agree?
Thank you as usual for your kind reply

Q: What is your view of CAPREIT's recent financial report? Do you like it moving forward for income and some growth?
Q: Could I get some fundamentals on CHW please: what do you think of the balance sheet, particularly debt level, payout ratio on the dividend, and how well are they accounting for potential bad debts? What do you think of the income statement and how are they going to grow revenue. How would they compare with EFN? Thanks for your help.
Q: Good Evening
I am looking to add a rate reset preferred to my income holdings. Would you recommend the above Empire Life issue or the recent Manulife offering?
I recently purchased the new Pembina in the after market.
Thanks team

Q: In a LIF portfolio that I manage for my 65 year old wife I have sold BIN and now have funds to re-invest. I could add to existing positions or start a new sock. This portfolio has an emphasis on income. To help guide me could you tell me what 4 or 5 stocks you would recommend at this time?
Q: How do you rate AAV vs. others in the sector? In other words, if an investor is committed to having some exposure to the Oil & Gas Sector, is AAV a keeper?
