Q: I am interested in your views on why the stock market suddenly became so enthusiastic about Trump when it was continuously going down a couple of weeks ago when it appeared that he would win. In the middle of the night on Nov 8th, the Dow futures were way down as expected and then miraculously they rebounded in the morning. Should we expect this to last?
I was looking at Free Cash Flow Yield as a metric to evaluate companies that I want to invest in. Do you find this metric useful? Also, what would be considered a good free cash flow yield? I've heard people look at companies with 10% free cash flow yield, but that seems like it would be hard to find. Some of the companies in my portfolio like Disney and Stella Jones seem to have closer to 5% free cash flow yield. I know Disney has been investing heavily in their parks, which has lowered their FCF yield in the short-term.
Q: Hi, Parkland Fuel stock continues to get pounded every day since its recent earnings release, losing over 10% of its value. It was mentioned as a baby Alimentation Couche Tard. Today, ATD.b stock price also showed considerable weakness. I have just started to wonder if there is a rotation out of these consumer names which have done well in past. And, if so, do you see this trend persisting, since money seems to be moving into banks, industrials and energy/material stocks. I have a small position in ATD.b but just doubled my PKI holding to overweight and feel a little concerned. Thanks for your valued advice.
Q: i have owned aphria from the beginning,i agree with you this rally in maryjane stocks has taken them to ridiculous valuations-- old saying never fight the tape.
my question is are we missing something, why do these stocks keep going higher, is it because 8 states approved legal maryjane in some form, will u.s. maryjane companies buy cdn companies with cheap cdn dollars -- what am i missing.dave
Q: Hi, a guest on BNN blamed CCL Industries stock decline today on its being in material sector and market selling this stock to raise cash, in order to buy high beta names in the same sector. Does it make sense ? Thanks
Q: So I planned to add to my positions after the election but things went up, not down. Should I do it now or wait until end of November? When does tax loss selling start?
Q: In many of the ETFs that track US healthcare, some of the sub-sectors took a hit yesterday while others outperformed. Is it too early to tell what this portends? Given the new U.S. admin, I’d be grateful if you could share your thoughts on your favourites in this space, especially among the broadly diversified ones. Thanks very much.
Q: Hello,
What is your current opinion on PSI? I am hearing that Trump may not be positive for Canadian oil as he is pro drilling causing an over supply. I don't own any oil. Would support services be a safer way to get oil exposure? If you don't like PSI what are your other recommendations?
Q: Not far off 5 year lows and on a dropping trend. Yield is quite high so everyone is expecting a dividend drop I would think. Time to invest or not? If not, what would change your mind?
Q: There has been a significant drop in the share price (~20%) over the last month which I can't understand from the quarterly results. Occupancy remains very high and all metrics appear good to my untrained high except for net income and comprehensive income over the last 3 months, but good over 9 months. Can you shed some light for me please?
Q: Hi, could you please comment on New Flyer earnings release. There has been a lot of skepticism in the market, as seen in the stagnating stock price lately, despite reinstatement of New Jersey transit order. After market sales are also lower. Do you see sentiment improving in near future ? Thanks
