Q: A family member entering post-secondary school owns these stocks in their TFSA on an approximate equal weighting of $4,000. They have $8,000 to contribute and invest this fiscal.

The objective is growth with some risk; maintenance of capital is a secondary objective.

If allocating in $4,000 increments would you add to one or more of the existing investments or are there one or two you think would be better suited to a young investor over a 3 - 5 year investment horizon?

Thanks so much.

Q: Your thoughts on the S&P 500 over the next few quarters? Is the risk/reward in favor of stepping into both spy:us and spgp:us in equal proportion's. Or continue to collect 5% from money markets for a couple of quarters. Is the P/E for the spy and sogp all ready pricing in the profits for the year? Would you prefer spgp over spy or would you have other considerations? It looks like spgp has been outperforming spy.

Thanks
Brian

Q: RBC has in the past year started to record the ROC (return of capital) portion of my monthly investments in my registered accounts. Considering one is taxed on the value of the amount withdrawn from a registered account, I am looking to understand what is the bigger picture intent of RBC adjusting book values down for the ROC in registered accounts? Thanks for your insight!

Q: Hi Team,
I would like your opinion on FMC. The stock is down significantly because one of the key product family is seeing patents expiry-diamides. It probably also moved lower with the rest of the agrobusiness sector-. Do you think it is a good time to take a small position in FMC. I am looking to a 3 to 5 years horizon.

I would also take position in one of the 3 other Cie listed -LIN, CTAS, KBL- due to the fact that I think these are 3 companies that could be fairly resilient in an economic downturn. How would you rank these choices in term of stability and capital appreciation potential ? Other suggestions are welcome!

Take the amount of credit necessary to answer my questions and sub questions!

Thank you,

Michel

Q: Searching for a stable high dividend US ETF for my RRSP. Looking at VYM and SCHD or perhaps you can recommend a different high dividend ETF? VYM has 450 holdings and SCHD 104; VYM appears to have a bit lower P/B and P/E. 10 year return for SCHD is 11.03% and 9.38% for VYM; SCHD also has a higher yield. Thanks for your comments!

Q: TD appears to be in some trouble with both its business activity and its share price. Several questions about TD have been recently asked and the answers have been a bit bland. Can you assess the stock and all that is happening and give your view for the future. I have owned TD for many years but concerned with what is going on. It's not what I expect from a top bank. Just to recap some recent events at TD at a high level - earnings were a bit disappointing, a former employee was charged with drug money laundering and bank employees knew about a probe 6 months before disclosing it. The share price has recently dropped much more than its peers. A recent response from 5i that TD went ex dividend I don't think accounted for anywhere near the drop in price that day. Do you still consider it a top bank pick?

Q: I want to add a US small cap ETF and am looking at IJR, IWM and IWN. I recognize that all small caps bring higher risk, but can you please rank these 3 ETFs, with the ETF with the best quality stocks first, ie. rank in terms of lowest risk to highest risk. Does IJR generally hold stocks with higher market caps?
Thanks!
