Q: I have had my eye on these 2 stocks for a while and the current prices look reasonable for a long term entry point. Both have been very acquisitive. From what I can glean from the annual and quarterly presentations CGI is in the process of delevering from their last acquisition and could be setting up for another. ATD is in the process of digesting their latest acquisition too. My question is has either company issued equity to fund some or all of their prior acquisitions? Or have they all used cash/debt?

Q: Hi 5i: I am in the process of aligning my equity portfolio more closely with the 5i Balanced Equity portfolio. Re the tech sector, I have KXS and SYZ as does 5i. However, instead of CSU and ENGH I have GIB.A and DSG. Would you recommend that I sell the latter two and pick up CSU and ENGH, or is there some intermediate step that you would recommend? Both GIB and DSG have done well for me so far. Thanks for your always valuable advice.

Q: THE REAL ESTATE AND UTILITY SECTION OF MY PORTFOLIO INCLUDES THE ABOVE. I AM A LONG TERM HOLDER AND AM CONSIDERING REDUCING THIS EXPOSURE BECAUSE OF THE IMPENDING POSSIBLE RATE INCREASE, AND REPURCHASING SOME AFTER A SUBSEQUENT DECLINE. ALSO INCREASING MY INFRASTRUCTURE EXPOSURE WITH BIP.UN. WHICH OF THE FOREGOING WOULD YOU RECOMMEND SELLING AT THIS TIME REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT THEY ARE REPURCHASED LATER? WHAT IS YOUR OPINION OF A SWITCH TO BIP.UN FROM H? THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED ADVICE.

Q: Hi Peter and Team,

In your answer to Helen, you said: Generally, we prefer to sell the stocks that have underperformed, preferring to keep strength rather than hope for a recovery."

Since we're down substantially with XTC, and it's held in a margin account where I could claim a tax loss, would this one be in the same category as your answer? Is XTC a case of "good company, bad stock"?

Thanks in advance.

Q: I am trying to high grade my portfolio and looking 2-3 yrs out for total return, would you swap the stocks in the following 3 scenarios or would you stay put. 1. TFI for CNR, 2. MX for SJ, 3. Bad or RUS for SIS. A small explanation as to why would be appreciated. Thanks and keep up the fantastic work.

Q: I have ACQ with a big loss and am thinking that I should sell and buy either KBL or NWC (keeping in the consumer space). Thinking 2 yrs out, would this be a good idea? If yes, would there be a better replacement than KBL or NWC

Q: Two part question:
1. Do the large US banks have more room to run or is the expected rate increase pretty much baked in?
2. To buy BAC and C I have to move $Cdn cash to my US$ accnt. Currency conversion can impact outcome. At 75c the $Cdn is up a bit. Should I buy now before the likely US interest rate increase? Or(2A) wait for a possible softening in the market around year end/ new year? Thanks for answering - but more importantly for your integrity, which was on display recently in your answer to the Forge First question.
