Q: Do you have an opinion of ETF's structure. Specifically Horizons using derivatives and reflecting dividends in the share price vs. more conventional ETF's. If you could comment on the downside and upside of either structure. Thank-you and Merry Christmas.

Q: I assume hedging is a two way street - you get protection back to Can$ if the US $ falls but lose the gain associated with a US$ rise, and there is a cost to provide this?? So if the US$ looks strong going forward relative to the Looney is this the best strategy and are there other US banking sector ETF choices. What do you think?

Q: Hi everyone,
Happy Holidays! I have small exposure to the materials sector through a 4% position in Stella-Jones. With the decrease in gold, I am looking at adding some gold exposure with Agnico Eagle. Do you favour adding exposure to gold or other sub sectors of materials. I know you've recommended Methanex recently.
Thanks,
Jason

Q: Looks like another very poor quarter reported last night by Sobeys/Empire. Would you be a buyer yet in the $17 dollar range or do we need to wait to see better numbers in the future?

Q: Hello 5i Team,
I've been building a portfolio matching the Balanced Equity Portfolio.
So far I invested in all recommended companies with the exception of
CSU, ENGH, CCL.B, KXS, CXI, T and WCP. Out of these 7, which 2 would you
recommend to invest on right now based on price and diversification?
Please recommend half or full position. Thanks.

Q: With interest rates heading up a percent by end of next year as per yellin today, is it still safe for me me to keep 10% of my portfolio in CBO? If not, where else can I invest for fixed income?
- Global X S&P 500 Index Corporate Class ETF (HXS)
- iShares Core S&P 500 Index ETF (XUS)
- Vanguard U.S. Total Market Index ETF (VUN)
- SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY)
Q: I am thinking of investing in U.S. large cap companies more specifically an ETF. Are you better off to invest in a fund like SPY (U.S. dollars) or in the other canadian fund base companies like HXS,VUN or XUS. I noticed that the ytd. return is approx. 14% for SPY versus the others at %7% for this current year.
Q: Hi, have been thinking of selling Csh bought at 11.60,because of poor showing, and has been lowered from buy to hold.I also have Sia,Gud,Crh for a 8% sector weight.
Would you be fine with selling or keep holding,I do need the dividend.
Also if I sell could you give me 2 or 3 dividend replacements, don't worry about sector.
Thanks for your advice

Q: I have the following dividend paying stocks in my portfolio. Pipelines, Enb., Trp, PPl 9%, Utilities, Bep, CU, EMA, FTS. 8%, Telcos, BCE, T. 3%, Banks TD, BNS, RY 12%. Industrial, BIP, CNR, WSP 8%. Consumer Couche Tard, Cineplex 4%. I hear all the experts say with rates rising and the emphasis on growth stocks in the trump era Dividend stocks will not do well. What do you think? I like the dividend payers. I do need to sell one security to raise cash. What do you suggest? Thank You.
Q: Considering the addition of a couple of dividend yielding stocks to enhance my wife's monthly income. Presently she has RY, PPL, BCE, KEY, DRG.UN, & STB. While you have not generally recommended STB in the past, I have picked it up periodically for the substantial dividend & this year to date it is up approx. 60% plus the dividend. I would however appreciate your expertise in ranking the following as to their financial stability & current price level for the next 12-18 months: AW.UN, BPF.UN, SRV.UN, KEG.UN & CWX. Thank you.
Q: Hi there, regarding PLI in the GP, can you shed any light as to who's selling heavily? Any insiders selling in the past three months? Any insiders buying recently? Have you finally read the false report, any comments on it? Any thoughts, best guess, as to what price range an equity issue would be done at considering where the stock price is now, if one is done?? Thanks!
Q: I have roughly 5,500 dollars free in US dollars. I am looking at starting a new position that has some growth and pays a dividend. What are my options. I currently already have these in the US

Q: I'm having trouble understanding why TOY has been losing ground for the past few weeks. It has the best selling toy for Christmas although I understand there have been issues with keeping up with demand. Any explanation why it's been steadily dropping of late?
Q: FFH doesn't seem to participate in a rising market and it also is not going up in a down market, would you consider ffh still a decent holding or would you recommend a better name or names in a correction.
