Q: Many analysts on BNN are recommending owning US banks vs Canadian, as dividend growth looks better for the US banks.. Would the benefit of owning a US bank be worth sacrificing the dividend tax break Canadians currently get,and the currency conversion to US dollars. Thank you

Q: Would you buy EFN today? Thanks.
Q: Hi, was just thinking of Efn as a buy? I have half a position now. Was looking over the questions and it looks like you seem to think in the long run it is a good buy.
My question is,what do you think of the mngmt, and debt,do you like the sector, and is there growth in the next 2-3 years?
Thanks, doing good since I joined 5i, Brad

Q: I would like your opinion on BLX. I especially like the cash flow that BLX generates. Thank you in advance.
Q: In your response this morning you stated: "we think adding a bit of unhedged exposure (VUN) is still worthwhile from a diversification perspective." Does this mean you are recommending the hedged ETF as the largest purchase? I understood from your past responses that for long term investments you favour unhedged ETFs.
Q: Regarding the recent question on Brookfield renewable, it is a TSX-listed company and the distributions are treated as Canadian rather than American for tax treatment.
Q: hi guys whats your opinion of scl dropping to 29.50 is this good value now
Q: 5i Team,
How similar are these 2 companies? I have 2.5% positions in both (at a healthy profit - thank you).
Should I sell one? I own DSG in a cash account at +100% - hence have to pay cap gains, and KXS in my TFSA. I know KXS is a top pick of yours..
I'm fine with risk.

Q: Thanks for your response to my recent question. I understand some of the short term issues re share performance but I wonder about the Spectra purchase long term. Is the acquisition accretive and the debt load manageable longer term to continue to make ENB an attractive investment?

Q: Would you kindly rank the following bank ADRs: LYG, SAN, IBN, for a the next year or two, and your rationale. They are potential buys within a TFSA. I realize the currency conversion and dividend tax are major drawbacks. But the single digit prices of these ADRs and apparent change in sentiment for the financial sector in Europe, as well as the sentiment in emerging markets, as well as India in particular is currently compelling to me. What are your thoughts. I'm leery of etf's these days, for example XID. Too many piling into etf's may not end well in my opinion. Finally I'm also curious whether your opinion of Fairfax India has become more favourable at all since the last question on it was answered. To me Fairfax India avoids currency conversion and potentially benefits from watsas knowledge and resources. What are your thoughts

Q: BROOKFIELD RENEWABLE PARTNERS L.P. is, I believe, the legal name for the Brookfield business with TSX symbol BEP.UN. Is BEP.UN a U.S. Master Limited Partnership (MLP)? An article in the May 27 Globe Report on Business discusses the risks to a Canadian investor holding U.S. MLPs, including a 39.6% withholding tax on payments to non-residents (according to the article, the tax applies to both registered & non-registered accounts). Is this applicable to BEP.UN.? Thanks for your reply. Edward.

Q: In the Globe today....
"CALGARY — New rules to reduce methane emissions from Canada’s energy sector will cost the industry an estimated $3.3-billion over the next two decades, and will hit conventional oil and natural-gas producers the most dramatically."
Will Questor be in line to benefit directly fromn this change?
