Q: I have not been as successful with my wifes TFSA as my own; currently have T 11%, AX.UN 6%, HR.UN 19% POW 29%, CDZ 18% and FN.PR.A 5%. Can you suggest a better mix? We are both in our early 70's and have RRIFs, trading accounts also with about 25 equities, plus about 150K in laddered GICs

Q: would you consider all of these stocks energy and oil related? How much of total weight would you give in this sector at this time? Would you consider 13% total too high in this sector?

Thanks

Q: Hello,

Are the distributions for CPD and CVD considered dividend or income? Which would be better in a TFSA and which would be better in a non-registered? My understanding is that both of these ETFs should do well in a rising interest rate environment.

Best,

Carla

Q: Hello,
Looking for a suggestion on a new name to add to RDSP portfolio. Prefer individual stocks over ETFs. Currently approximately equal weight: AAPL, BNS, CXI, GUD, KXS, NFI, PBH, SHOP, SIS, TOY, and cash. Looking for a portfolio addition to invest the cash in. Time frame is: 4 year old beneficiary withdrawing at age 50+. Current names reflect risk tolerance, and plan is to diversify with names as new money is added to the account
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks
John

Q: Please suggest 5 stocks that you think have a potential catalyst in the next 6-12 months that could result in higher than anticipated returns and indicate what those potential catalysts could be. Not looking for any micro-cap or very high risk suggestions. Thanks, and have a Happy New Year!

Q: My goal for the equity portion of my portfolio is about 50% growth, 50% income. I'm very close but just need two more income stocks. One I'm considering is AX.UN as the 8.5% dividend is attractive and I think that Alberta will recover over the next few years as oil does. The weighting I was planning to take would amount to 2% of my total portfolio or 3.5% of my Canadian equity portion of my portfolio. What are your thoughts on this?

Q: i am curious, this analyst at mackie downgraded knight today from outperform to hold, knight has zero debt and about 650 million in cash and is looking to do deals and maybe a very big deal.
why would he do this-- to me the upside seems huge and the downside minimal, he says he is looking for sideways action but one big deal could change everything. thanks dave

Q: Hi Peter and team, I was sent a link to a radio interview with the CEO of Dynacert, the interviewer was Jay Taylor who has a weekly radio show on the Voice America business channel.
What is your view on DYA? The story sounded compelling and market has been pushing this stock up. Also, is Jay Taylor a credible journalist or is he more of a stock promoter?

Q: Hi Peter....all the very best in the New Year.
Do you think this stock will ever trade again? ha. I have not seen a stock halted this long before, usually it is a matter of hours. What do you think could be the problem and if the deal does go thru do you think it will be beneficial to bkd?
Thanks and cheers,
Bruce.

Q: At my employer (BMO) I am involved in their share ownership program now for about 10yrs. Currently the value of these shares would make up about 30% of my overall stock portfolio if i was to compare it to my non-registered and TFSA stocks. Would you suggest trimming this number down and treat it like any other stock i hold in my portfolio?
