Q: Do you have a preference for one of these companies over the other at this time?
Q: it seems to me that your answer on exchange income applies exactly to crh.
my question is why are you still holding crh in the growth portfolio, and why are you somewhat positive on crh as compared to exchange income, home capital etc.,etc.
i think it is over for crh.dave

Q: Hi, another EIF question. Are the shorts like cohodes and consorts paid by commission by a big US hedge fund to take out Canadian companies ?

Q: Does Royal bank have a etf energy.. Would you recommend it and would now be a good time two buy? She has to invest some cash. Thanx for everything. CLIFF
Q: Re my previous question of Mawer funds in a TFSA, your answer seems at variance with the advice from Mawer.
Mawer advises that:" Mawer mutual funds are structured as a Canadian Mutual Fund Trust.Foreign holdings inside the fund are not classed as foreign holdings for withholding tax purposes"

Q: If you were a holder of CRH, what would you do?
Q: Hello Peter & team. I have a full position in EIF, as of today would you sell this stock or not? In the answer to Richard you say that Prescience Point piled on to the short attack, with a tweet indicating EIF is a "terminal short". What is a "terminal short"? Best regards, Gervais
Q: I have a small ($35k) car account - bought a new car and financed most on basis of keeping my capital, hopefully offsetting the low interest cost with dividends. Portfolio: AD,AX,CWX,DFN & PZA. ax represents 37% and has given me a 12% capital gain in addition to the 8% dividends. It now seems range bound at $13. Thinking of taking that capital gain and replacing AX with a combination of ALA and IPL both of which seem to have some upside potential, while still paying 6-7% div. What do you think? Thanks, continue to love your service.
Q: A&W has not been performing well lately. What seems to be the problem?
Thank you.
Thank you.
Q: Isn't the fall in SP an over reaction?? Home Depot has been successfully fending off Amazon with successful online retail of its own for several years in many of its business lines already (hand and power tools etc). Not to mention people don't like buying a lot of their goods online and prefer to buy or pick up in person. I just don't see why there's such a big reaction. I own HD shares and am now a bit under water. I don't typically like holding on to losers very long. What would be an appropriate stop loss level for this stock and/or what are your thoughts on the stock moving forward. Thanks
Q: Hi guys,
What's up with Home Depot today, I can't see any news.
thanks

Q: The market reaction this morning to EIF was rather negative in the face of apparently good quarterly results. I missed the 10 am phone call. Was there anything said during the call to support this market reaction?
Q: In your answer to a question from Oscar about Hydro One buying Avista, you said “We would be fine with the debenture issue, with the conversion price discounted to $21.40 to entice investors.” My question is as follows: Will individual investors be able to buy these Hydro One debentures when they are issued?
Thanks in advance for your answer.
Thanks in advance for your answer.
Q: I am curious about a comment you made earlier. Someone asked about photon control, and you pointed out that nothing had changed with regard to the situation or prospects at this company, which your regard as very good. Yet since late April, the trend in its stock value has been steadily downward. Savaria is another of your favorites with great prospects, but its trend over the last six weeks, has again been consistently down. If the actual underlying performance of the company has not changed, what causes a stock to fall off like this, not for a day or a week, but consistently over a long period, given most investment is being done by professionals?
Q: Any thoughts on why GWR is selling off? Thanks.

Q: During the Spring I liquidated my CDN Equity portfolio. I wanted to move away from managing indidual positions and move to a more passive approach. Then I read Ryan's excellent article, Why it's almost impossible to be a passive investor in Canada. I looked at HEW; but it is very small with only about $12m invested. Are there other ETFs that do an equal weight S&P 60? I also am considering VCN and CDZ. I also looked at Two mutual funds, Mawer Canadian Equity and Lester CDN Equity Fund. There are High Conviction funds available; but with very high MER's.
Would you please recommend a portfolio structure that would meet my needs, I am a conservative senior. Please have the suggestions add to 100%.
Thanks Guys for keeping us thinking outside the box.

Q: Hi 5iResearch Team,
Over the past 12 months, IPL is down by about 10% while PPL was up slightly (2%). Currently, IPL has a PE ratio of 17.8X and a P/cash flow of 12.4X while PPL's ratios are 35x (PE) and 21X (cash flow).
Would you please comment on why IPL is lagging behind PPL over the last 12 months and based on the above ratios, wouldn't IPL be a better buy than PPL?
Cheers,
Harry

Q: I have 2 questions. I am down 20% on clr and I would like your outlook for the next 6 months to a year. Time to sell or do you see upside? Would you look under the hood of xsi and comment on this etf as fixed income for a 1 to 2 year hold and what the influence of higher interest rates might be on the components? Thanx.
