Q: National Bank released a research report on Callidus that gave a private buyout range of $18 to $22, one year ago. Since then revenues and earnings are up. They came out a little while ago saying the value would now be to the top end of that range. The company released a statement in February saying 17 parties were interested and any deal would likely close by the end of June. The stock trades at around $18. Isn't there excellent potential here for a 10-20% trade in just a few months? Thanks.

Q: Hello 5i team:
I understand that there are some issues regarding the lending practices of Home Trust and Equitable Trust. I understand that there some advisories to avoid adding new funds to these HISAs. Are their High Interest Savings Accounts-HISA-safe? I presume 100k CDIC safety net applies. Should one move the money anyway out of these HISA?
What are the other safer alternatives?
Many thanks.
Mano.

Q: A follow up question on the one asked by Micheal. Over the past 5 years the company's auditor has included a going concern note in all financial statements and mentions the accumulated deficit as the issue. From the STATEMENTS OF CHANGES IN EQUITY in company's financial statements it cites a deficit of approx $33 million. Is this deficit a total of losses the company has accrued over the years? If not what is it and why does it affect the company into the future. Thanks

Kenn

Q: In a follow-up to my previous question, I do realize it will take "better and more consistent earnings", so I apologize for not being more specific. Where will these better earnings come from: i.e., in what sector(s) in which they deal is the growth likely to come. With oil and energy generally being dead at the moment, is it likely that Pure's contracts will be growing? Will it come from their infrastructure sector, rather than their pipeline monitoring sector? Will it come from their water/waste water sector? I'm just at a standstill on this stock, as I don't see much growth in any of those sectors at the moment. Seems like everything is at a standstill until the infrastructure in this country gets a shot in the arm from the feds.

I'm sorry to be so persistent, but it's 5I's fault partly, for forcing always to be an "informed investor". : ) I am willing to hold onto a company which I've had for some time, if there measurable potential and where it's coming from.

Please feel free to deduct (another) credit as I wasn't clear and specific enough in my first question, perhaps.

Thanks as ever for your guidance!

Q: Hi 5i Team: In an anticipated rising rate environment I am leaning towards adding more ZPR in my preferred share segment of my fixed income portfolio. Am I correct in thinking ZPR is (no pun intended) preferable over HPR at this time? Or should I take HPR as a little diversification as I only hold rate resets in my preferred share portfolio at the present time.

Q: Dear 5i
I recently bought AIF and ITC (half positions).
Both are down between 15 and 20% . Should i let things settle down a bit first before buying into a full position in each ?
In other words do you still have positive thoughts on these two stocks over the next 2-3 years ?
Thanks

Q: Peter:

This week Ralph Garcea at Echelon Partners initiated coverage on Intrinsyc with a Spec. buy rating with a C$3.35 12m target. This is ITC's first analyst. As a former small cap fund manager did you pay attention to new reports from small cap's who are not raising capital? Do you think this report will begin to draw some institutional attention to ITC?
