Q: Greetings,

My first purchase of CCL.B in May 2017 was just before the stock split. At the time it was $63.3 per share. I have earned approx $1200 in dividends and am currently down around $600 based on current share price, and up $600 overall. Can you please remind me why I should continue to hold this stock. My patience is beginning to wear thin. Many thanks and my apologies if my expectations are not reasonable.

Q: Hi 5i team,

My daughter and her partner are investing in their RRSPs through a work plan. They are in a number of Mutual funds, some with quite high MERs range about 1.5 to 2.5%. Also high redemption rates (some up to 5% in first year or two). I have tried to find the mutual funds from their statements, but mostly listed without codes so difficult to be certain of all data.

They have :
20% Balanced funds
47% Canadian Equity
13% Global Fixed income
20% Foreign Equity.

Amount invested is significant but not really high - includes 3 years of contributions/investment. I think they would be best to withdraw the money now and invest in ETFs. I don't think they need to similarly replicate the funds above in ETFs.

2 questions:

A. Any suggestions as to most efficient way to withdraw from these funds? Are there questions to ask that might help reduce redemption bite or should they just make the switch.
B. They are late 30's and 40 yo, so time horizon of approx. 20 years or more before needing money. They are interested in investing but are very early in this. Wondering what you would suggest for starter ETFs right now with bias towards growth. Perhaps you could suggest 4-6 ETFs that would give them age and time horizon appropriate investments.

Please use as many questions as needed.
Thank you in advance for your usual great service and the very helpful advice.

Q: PRL and LMN are examples of small cap stocks that have recently moved in price to reflect their earnings and future potential. However, only after a period where their performance and promise were not yet recognized, and investment was stagnant. Do you have stock suggestions on the US and/or Canadian markets that might be on the verge of similar recognition and subsequent transition to prolonged growth?

Q: This is just a curiosity, and please don't feel obliged to answer if this isn't public information or you'd rather not divulge. But I'm curious what is the current size of the 5i subscriber base - I often wonder how many in the 5i community are reading the same Q&A as me? It's a lot of effort on your part!

Q: I own these energy stocks and some are on the plus side and others are on the losing side. I've been waiting for quite some time for the Chinese economy to take off, but it seems to go nowhere ? I would like to trim some of my holdings. Please place them in order of what you would keep down to some you would let go. Maybe you could code them as 10 being the best and 1 as being the worst. Thanks.

Q: I have to raise some cash, and have to sell the equivalent of one of the above positions, all up various amounts from 10% to 60%, but all have about the same market value. All healed in TFSA. Considering growth only with a multi-year hold, what do you suggest - trim all three, trim two, or sell one full position, and if so which do you suggest. Thanks!

Q: Could you please give me the top 10 stocks with the highest ROCE 5 year average (Return on Capital Employed) on the TSX and the S&P? So, that would be 20 stocks in total. Thank you very much.

Q: I have a very decent return on my VNP shares thanks to a fortunate entry. It has become a too significant part of my portfolio considering the size of the company. I am thinking of selling some of it and rotating the sale proceeds into NEO. Could I have your thoughts on both and the sale idea? Thanks.

Also, with respect to the commentary on long posts, I am certain there will always be differing thoughts but it might perhaps provide a compromise if subscribers could do a small post in the regular section of Q/A that links to a separate space in the blog area to access the full post? Just a thought.

Q: Thank you for the quick response to my earlier question today about sector outperformance. I had asked for three sectors EXCLUDING Technology, so could you please give me one more sector, it's rationale for outperformance, and two dividend paying stocks (US or CAN) within that sector? Thank you very much, again.
