Q: Morning,

Would like to know if the dividend from Cominar is currently safe and your view on the stock on an income based portfolio? Would Slate Office REIT be a good replacement if Cominar is deemed too risky?

Thanks!

Q: About a month ago, a member asked about the above companies, and you responded that you considered PBH riskier (although not *that* risky overall). In light of the AMZN move, do you still consider PBH riskier? I hold L, should I switch to PBH? For longterm, hopefully indefinite hold. Thank you.

Q: I currently hold CVS and am down 21%. In a response today to a question about WBA, you indicate that a switch from WBA to HD would be okay given the structural change being brought about by AMZN on the purchase of Whole Foods. While the person asking the question had a good gain on WBA, would your response be the same for my position in CVS?......thanks....Tom

Q: In my search for investing ideas, I was reading the equity holdings of the CPPIB with the belief that a bunch of really smart people are investing the CPP funds. Was very surprised to see that the largest Canadian equity holding, by market cap, as at 03/31/2017, was Seven Generations.

Seems like the CPP managers are making a huge bet on Canadian energy; is that a smart thing?

Q: I hold several hundred shares of ARX in my non-registered account and am wondering about trading them out for BIR? My only real reason for considering this swap is to realize the tax-loss on the ARX shares since I am down roughly 45% since purchase. I understand them both to be gas oriented producers. Do you consider one company to be superior to the other in terms of management, leverage to a rebound, dividend sustainability, and long term prospects? Is this a switch that you would recommend at this time?

Q: All of these companies had large drops in value today(Friday)on large volumes. CSU down 1.5% and ECI down 2.5% on very large volume at the day's end. Can you explain this end of day activity? Is it a buying opportunity?
Perhaps a separate question, both LNR and MG took big hits today (Friday), both on large volumes - any ideas as to what caused this? Buying opportunity?

Q: Good morning 5i team,
Richard Croft has mentionned a kind of bond alternative by writing covered calls on a company like BCE. He says BCE works something like bonds in a rising rate environment and so, I suppose, would tend downwards. In writing the covered call for say next January you get the healthy dividend and you have also protection from the downside. Wondering what you thought of this strategy and whether you know of some other Canadian companies with which it would work?

thanks

Q: Can you comment on whether this is a good entry point into Slate Retail REIT. The stock has been in a downtrend for last month or two after hitting highs. With the news out about Amazon buying Whole Foods, the stock is down further since they own grocery store anchored tenant plazas.

Are they cheap or expensive here in terms of valuation and would you be comfortable with the dividend payout ratio. Also any guidance for the future would be good. This would be a very long term hold for me. Thank you.

Q: I have a reasonable gain of about 35% on this stock. However the pending acquisition of Whole Foods by Amazon has hit many retailers short term. I am pretty good at holding stocks through "noise" but I am considering taking profits here and moving on, in particular to Home Depot or Wyndham Worldwide. May I have your thoughts on this possible move. Thank you. Bill
