Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Morning folks,

Could you please comment in regards to establishing positions in good quality companies that are so called expensive. I hear money managers refer to companies as to rich and need to wait for a pullback before getting in. With some companies a pullback might not even happen. As a long term investor does it really matter when an investor buys in. Could you elaborate.

Thank you.

Q: Hello Peter,
I'd appreciate your insight.

What do you think about the suggestions that money is moving out of technology and some of it will find its way in the biotech sector? I do not hold any US tech but do hold the biggish position in IWO and IWM combined. With no fresh money, what do you think of reducing the positions in either or both IWM/IWO combine and invest in IBB?
The second aspect where I would like your thoughts is on the Financials both side of the border. With BOC likely to raise rates atleast once, the TSX may drift down, maybe even a sharp reaction. What do you think of reducing TSX exposure, buying US dollars and investing in US financials for the second half of the year?
As always, appreciate your views.
Regards
Rajiv

Q: I currently hold ZBK-BMO Equal Wt US Banks Unhedged and I am considering with the strength in CDN$ adding ZUB-BMO Equal Wt US Banks Hedged to my portfolio. I prefer to hold Cdn$ ETFs that invest in US companies rather than buying those companies directly in US$. Would appreciate your comments on holding both these ETFs as a method of having more US Bank exposure and balancing the currency movements?

Q: I want to invest about $400000 new money, over what time period should I invest ? Is this a good time to get into the market or should I wait for possible pull back. or should I get into the market now by buying all the companies in the 5i income portfolio? or should I invest half now and half if the market pulls back.
Or should I just park the money in HFR until oct or nov?
Thank you

Q: I currently hold a full position of BPY in a taxable account.
An overweight position of BIP and a half position of BEP in
a non taxable account. The three comprise sixteen percent
of my total portfolio. I have sizable gains in both BPY and BIP.

Too many eggs in Brookfield companies? What would you
suggest as a reasonable percentage and how would you rank
the companies as to quality?

Thank you for considering my question(s)

Q: My tech sector comprises OTEX & KXS.
KXS has done very well this past year whereas OTEX is now back where it was at that time. It seemed to be on a losing trend before it acquired COVS - which only seemed to make it worse. What's your opinion, where do you think it might be heading? Anything positive to say? Your advice very much appreciated.

Q: An ex-client of HomeCapital who has made a few posts on Twitter has been saying that Home Capital illegally over-charges customers in trouble. Something about a section 8. Could you look at the statement shared in this tweet and tell us what you think? It seems unbelievable that clients could have been over-charged by tens of thousands of dollars without this having surfaced in the news before now. Apparently management has not answered questions regarding this. Truely, this story is turning into a mystery novel. Thanks.

Q: Hi 5i,
I hold some Callidus (CBL) and I am inclined to keep holding and collecting the dividends while management works on growing the business and works out some kind privatization deal that they will find acceptable. I noticed though that my online broker recently updated its indication of the number of floating shares, reducing it from 12M to 9.24M. Aside from liquidity issues, are there any risks (for shareholders like me) associated with the share float becoming too small? Also, what is the extent of the short interest in the stock and, if indicated in percentage terms, is that a percentage of the issued shares or a percentage of the floating shares? Thanks.
