Q: For a "well diversified portfolio" and "Forever" holdings in Financial Sector, what would be your top 2 choices long-term [5 years] - assume 1 bank and 1 Alternative Finance, but your call. Looking for growth at a reasonable price.
Q: What do you think of Minco Silver (MSV)? Is there something fundamentally wrong with the company or is it just trending lower due to the sector and tax loss selling?
Q: Hi,
What is the best way to trade or have exposure to bitcoin without actually having to open a bitcoin trading account? Are there any stocks or ETF's that track these cryptocurrencies? I usually just check GBTC.
Q: I am doing some research on PTG and I am somewhat amazed to see that the companies market cap is about $100 million, but revenues clock in at over $1.3 billion. It would seem to me that they have a large degree of leverage to any cost savings they can wring out of their operations. Even a 1% reduction would equate to a significant % of their market cap. I was also thinking that this could make it attractive as a takeover candidate. I note, as well, that in a recent response you indicate that the fairly attractive dividend appears safe. I am looking at building an investment "thesis" if you will, and was wondering if you could add any comments as it does sound as though you have had access to management recently.
Kind Regards.
Q: You have said that there is no withholding tax on US securities, held in a RRSP/RRIF. Do you know if there is withholding tax on US securities held in RDSP. I have purchased RUF.UN and see withholding taxes.
Best Regards

Q: Hello, I would like to put some money into an ETF or mutual fund. Would be in for the long term +5 years.
Would these three be acceptable for dividend, stability and small growth? I’am retired and need income, but not interested in U.S. tax filing.
Would you invest in all three? Or do you have a better suggestion with one or two ETF’s ?
Thanks
Q: I have only one oil/gas stock WCP down 38% and a 1.6% position. I only have that because I feel I should have something in the sector. Lately I've noticed a disconnect between the price of oil and the stock price movement. I know WCP is one of 5I's favorites but I'm wondering if my lonely representation in the sector wouldn't be served better by ZEO which yields about the same. Opinion ?
Q: I keep hearing commentary that Japan is undervalued, would like some exposure. I have a high risk tolerance, Could you comment on a couple of Japan focused ETFs, maybe some analysis on how theyre differentiated and what type of investor is suitable for each.

Q: Hi 5I,
I recently read that Russia is the cheapest stock market in the world and its index has historically outperformed even that of the US. What would you say to this? Can you recommend a Canadian listed ETF or other way to play Russia? Thanks!
Q: Horizons is introducing a CAD-hedged version of the ROBO ETF this week. If buying ROBO in a non-registered account, would the Horizons ETF be better than the US version for tax considerations?
Q: Good Morning, while reading IBD I came across the company ABMD Abiomed and it peaked my interest. Could I get your opinion knowing the US is not your focus area. Thank you
Q: Given a ten year hold position and wanting a low risk option would you recommend a basket of quality ETF's or solid dividend producing stocks like Canadian banks. Thanks
Q: Do you see ENB as a potential tax-loss selling candidate for the remainder of this year, despite it not being on your list in your recent blog entry on the topic?
I have a 3% portfolio weighting of ENB in a taxable account and still wish to hold it long term, however as I have a small (7%) loss I'm contemplating selling it and buying it back at the beginning of January or thereabouts to offset some of this year's capital gains. Would you advise such a move for ENB right now, or is this all a bit too fancy (and/or risky)?
