Q: This question concerns the technology sector in a well-diversified Canadian portfolio (~30 holdings), focused slightly toward growth.

The current technology holdings are CSU, SHOP, DSG and KXS. With the exception of KXS, the holdings are all positive. We are considering replacing KXS with LMN.

For a long term hold, which of KXS and LMN would you prefer and why?

Thank you,

Peter.

Q: Hello 5i research team, I will soon be liquidating a brokerage account containing shares in 18 companies, probably within 2 or 3 months. How would you suggest I proceed with the timing and pace of the sale? As soon as possible, gradually, according to the wishes of the heirs, or at the deadline, to take advantage of market exposure for longer? Should I rely on technical analysis to determine the timing of the sale? If so, which indicator (ma, rsi, macd, or others) and how often (daily, weekly or monthly)? Thank you for your collaboration, Eric

Q: Palantir reported its 4Q on Monday, Feb 5. Stock popped 30% on Tuesday. First profitable year, worldwide commercial revenue grew by 32% year over year more than government revenue which grew by 11% year over year, increased its revenue guidance for 2024, AI platform "continues to be unrelenting" as reported by CEO. Short interest % is low. P/E = 232, P/S = 17. Expensive and volatile stock since its IPO. What is your take on Palantir quarter? Is the 30% increase in stock price over-exuberant? What is the maximum percentage you would hold Palantir in your portfolio?

Q: My question is about the Enbridge preferred share ENB.PF.V. I received notice that I have the option to convert my cumulative redeemable preference shares, series 5 to series 6. The series 6 annual dividend rate is 6.7%. If I do not exercise this option then the preferred shares will remain as series 5. The letter I received does not state the consequence of not exercising my option. I’m guessing that if I keep my series 5 preferred shares then the annual dividend rate will remain at 5.4%. Is that correct? Thanks … Cal

Q: Can you explain the difference in yield from different sources. eg USCL.TO pays .23 per momth which yields a forward looking annual yield of 13.4% based on todays price of 20.60. The 5I portfolio tracker comes up with the same value. Yet RBC Direct investing shows 7.8% and Yahoo Finance 6.5%. I suspect the former is forward looking and the later two historical. This seems to be a trend with ETFs especially new ones.

Q: I have a small position in Archer Exploration from the Wallbridge spinoff. I am thinking of increasing my nickel exposure. When I consider Canada Nickel it seems to have a much higher valuation. What am I missing ? I believe AEM has investments in both companies.
