Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: I currently hold aqn, approx. 11% of my portfolio and am thinking about adding one of ema,cu or fts. I do not expect to exceed 15% in total portfolio value and am not adverse to reducing my position in aqn to add one of the above. Which of these three utilities would you add for both growth and income and why.

Thanks, David

Q: Hi 5i,
It looks like Alaris has missed on Q2 relative to expectations. But it also looks like the analysts’ have failed relatively miserably in attempting to provide useful guidance about this company on a quarter by quarter basis. Please give me your assessment of management’s comments under “Outlook,” specifically in relation to the forecast for 2017 FY revenues of $90M and an “annualized payout ratio” of “under 90%”. Also, I realize that predicting market reaction is speculative but, if AD can achieve results in accordance with the stated Outlook, do you think that would be sufficient to provide a significant measure of recovery for the share price. Thanks!

Q: Hi. I am currently in process of reorganizing. I am overweight in financials. Would like to sell all of my position in POW or else SLF which would reduce position from 15% in financials to 10% (Currently have 5% in each of BNS, POW, SLF). Alternatively I could sell half of each POW and SLF to get the same result. Thoughts?

Q: A friend of mine who wanted to access the cash portion of his portfolio was told by his advisor that that the cash was part of a "sleeve" and therefore could not draw on the cash that showed in his statement. He ended by having to sell some of his stocks to get the cash he needed.
Can you please explain what is "sleeve investing" and why he did not have access to the cash portion of his portfolio?
Thank you
