Q: The US is threatening to impose Tariffs on China tomorrow. From what I understand this is mainly aimed at intellectual property. Do you anticipate a positive effect on patent holders if China reacts by paying royalties to them rather than paying the tariffs? If so what companies would likely benefit. In Canada I'm thinking Quarterhill might be an example but I suspect it may be too early to ask you for an opinion.

Q: Hello team,
Would you kindly give us an update on TDOC? Would you agree that it is an Amazon like company in the healthcare system? Or is that too lofty a description and it may not be able to ramp up its business the same as Amazon has? How is TDOC cash and debt positions now? Do you think that the stock is too expensive? Has the management been shareholder friendly? Are they selling more than buying? Would you think the company would have to dilute shares again to raise money soon? And finally do they have any competitive advantage and can grow organically or do they have to keep buying the competitors?
Would you be a buyer at the current price, after all is said?
Thank you for your great knowledge and assistance!

Q: Is there a minimum stock value or does it go to 0?
Q: Does Magna do a lot of business in China? If not can you explain why the stock is being pounded today? I know it was downgraded, but would that really take the stock down almost 5% given how undervalued it already is?
Q: RE the 30 day rule. If I sell a stock in my margin account, can I buy it back same day in my TFSA and still claim loss? If not can I purchase it in my TFSA first then sell it from my margin account? Thanks James
Q: This is not a question but a guide to the entire history of FFH, which answers on the questions today. It's published in the annual report every year where the Dec. 31 book value and share value are compared. The reader should note he trend in the book value, in particular. Also Watsa's comments over and over are that book value and share value will not necessarily follow each other. I am a long term holder of FFH, sold out at $600 purely to buy a house and then by pure blind luck (not skills) I had the opportunity to by back in with ACB of $175 a couple of years later!

Q: Hi!
In a rising rate environment, are there certain metrics that we can look at to determine whether a certain telcos, utility or REIT will be more resistant to the downside?
Thanks!

Q: I would appreciate your views upon RX as a holding for potential growth within a TFSA. Thank you.
-
FLYHT Aerospace Solutions Ltd. (FLY)
-
Exco Technologies Limited (XTC)
-
High Arctic Energy Services Inc. (HWO)
Q: I hold the above in my TFSA and am down significantly on all of them. Fly is particularly concerning to me as I am down well over 50% and momentum is poor. Is it time to dump one or all even though there's no tax benefit to selling a loser? Could you suggest 2 or 3 alternatives, sector not withstanding? I hold a mix of the growth and balanced equity portfolios in our TFSA's.
Q: Another good quarter from LGT.B? Maybe a “Ground Rule Double”? What do they mean when they say “...consolidated profit for the year of 27.4 million, of which 27.4 million was attributable to owners of the company”.
Your comments please.
Thanks

Q: Any update on this one? The stock price has moved up in the past month, and they announced a partnership with an Australian engineering consultant.

Q: I have read your most recent response (16 Jan 2018) re AGX. Are things looking any better for the company? I copy the concern is lack of contracts.
Q: Would you please provide an overview of DR results.
Thanks
Thanks
Q: Would you sell or hold any or all of Sprott Energy, Sprott Gold, Sprott Cdn. Equity funds at this point Thanx Robbie
Q: I have a half position on ADW.a, I am wondering if ADW.a is currently over priced? Does it make sense to add to this at these levels?
Q: Quite often, in both questions and answers, when there is no apparent or obvious reason for a significant drop in a stock's price it is simply attributed to "profit taking".
Can you please explain how and why this works - what are the mechanics of it?
Thank you,
John

Q: This company has been on an uptrend for the last 6 months and has shot through its year-ago highs on significant volume. What is your call on the performance of this stock in 2018 ?
Q: Hello
My Self Direct RRSP account holds approximately 50% in the older couch potato version XIU,XBB,XSP,and XIN. The balance is primarily Canadian dividend funds found within your income and balanced portfolios.
Now that I have retired should I sell the original 4 couch potato funds and replace it with the new Vanguard fund (VBAL) plus keep a few of the better dividend stocks.
Just looking to keep it simple and not stress over re-balancing and diversification.
Thanks
Gary

Q: ROE, Debt, tech ratios, div. all look good to me, is there any reason this REIT trading volume is almost NIL. Am I missing something, thought this was a solid holding going forward, please comment. Thanks.
Q: Good Morning 5i. Please comment on the recent quarterly results from NXR.UN. Do you recommend for growth and income? How does the payout ratio and debt compare to other REIT's?
