Q: Hi - as a follow up to your reply from my earlier question today on the above, would you consider a further pullback during this possible rotation to be an opportunity to add back to them? This would be under scenario that once a recession is upon us that they would once again do well. Secondly, do you "expect" that this rotation may last a quarter or two...or is your base case for recessionary positioning sooner?

Q: Thanks for your explanation on BN and BAM ..... However I still don't see the thesis for buying BN ..... Mr Market is giving no credit to " cash in the bank " ..... Mr Market knows everything we do yet gives the capital gains to BAM.... For example BAM is up 3.57% today and BN is up 1.6% on an upmarket day .... And since inception BAM has consistently been the one rewarded .... Mr Market is giving the nod for both income and growth currently to BAM...... Why shouldn't I have my cake and eat it too ?

Q: I am looking to set up an RESP for grandchildren aged 8 and 6 with about $40k that will be added to annually. I am thinking of purchasing 8 stocks in roughly equal amounts - ISRG, CROX, GOOG, NVDA, BN, LMN, SMCI, HPS.A

Is 8 stocks too limiting and should I look at ETFs for some sectors or should this give the plan a good start and greater diversification can occur as the plan grows?

Anything you see here that raises a red flag or are there other stocks I should consider?

Appreciate your insight.

Q: I just wanted to make sure I understood the CRA attribution rules. Let's say I have $10,000 and it earns interest in a taxable account @ 5% = $500. I have to claim that $500 on my income tax. Now suppose the next year that $500 earns more interest @ 5% = $25. Again, I could claim that $25 on my income tax.

However, my understanding is that this 2nd generation interest (interest on interest of $25) does not need to be claimed by me. Instead, it could be claimed under my wife's income tax. Am I correct?

If I am correct, my plan would be to transfer the interest monies I earned during 2023 from RBF2010 (basically a RBC money market fund currently earning 4.55%) to my wife's account in early 2024.

Please confirm my understanding is correct....thanks...Steve

Q: The U.S. is growing much faster than Canada. Canada’s much slower economic growth relative to the U.S. seems to be related namely mortgage debt, Given this situation, can you suggest 1) Individual U.S. stocks for capital gain 2) Individual U.S. stocks that pay dividends, and 3) U.S. ETFs? Thank you
