Q: Hi 5i team,
Earlier in April they announced a financing deal and the stock price has been going lower ever since. On April 23 they announced a new dividend of .03 cents which means a DY of about 2%. It's not spectacular, but we like the 'confidence' that a dividend announcement brings, no? How long before the market reacts to this? Specifically, shouldn't some fund managers and institutional players jump onboard soon after, when there is a new dividend announcement for this stock? (and a corresponding uptick in the price). Thx, R.

Q: Hi Folks,
Further to the question I asked about Bank Bail-Ins, could you explain this a bit further: "The best defense is to have a cash account only, where securities are segregated"?
Does this mean an "investment account" where we only have cash or perhaps GICs, T-Bills, etc? In other words, no equities? I'm not sure what you meant by that.

thanks again,

Paul

Q: Greetings 5i,

VFF is a stock you considered a spec buy earlier this year. It has since came down to $5.00 however is still way up from its 52 week lows. What are your thoughts on this company, is it still a spec buy in your opinion, and at what weighting in a portfolio would you be most comfortable.

Lastly can you suggest a few names, Canadian or otherwise, that have become interesting to you as "pick and shovel" suppliers for the MJ industry.

Cheers!

Q: I realise that the Canadian stock market is your focus but I own shares of the UK supermarket J Sainsbury PLC. Would you sell into the proposed merger with Asda (Walmart UK)? The shares popped 15% yesterday on the news.

Q: MMM has fallen from grace, I presume from reduced guidance. However, I see increasing and steady dividends, a well managed business, good margins, major buy backs continuing, etc., etc.

Is the decline in price simply b/c investors are wanting more growth? Would you consider MMM a good buy today?

Best,

Cam

Q: A follow up to my question earlier today. I am assuming that the shorts are betting on the inability of the company to successfully cope with a higher churn rate. Do you agree? If not, why is the stock being shorted? What are your thoughts regarding the management team and the business model. Do you see tangible signs that the company is , and will be able to continue, coping with a higher churn rate?

Q: Edwards, a US company that you likely do not follow, has developed an minimally invasive medical device and procedure for replacing faulty valves in humans. This procedure has many advantages, includinding cost and recovery time, over the open heart procedure. While there is competition in this market Edwards appears to be growing the stock has not performed well recently and I am down about 8%. I am considering selling if my loss reaches 10%.
Would you please give me you opinion of this company if you follow it t all?
With appreciation,
Ed

Q: I think you present a sensible outlook however I wonder about the Portfolios? The Balanced Equity is my interest but with 27 stocks it is to big. To do a decent size (2%) my target is $16000.00 per stock. Should I cherry pick? Would like your recommendation. Regards, Burke Purdon
