Q: Your previous answer was to sell this stock. I understand why and agree, but today I came across something that makes me think otherwise. Tal Hayek, ceo, just dropped one million of his own money on an insider public market buy. I see this alot with no fruition but this buy represent about one percent of the outstanding shares. Is this something that would make you change your mind to a hold.

Q: My question from October 10, 2023.
“Everyone, I have held LSPD since the summer of 2019 and I bought and sold throughout the last 24 months. My remaining amount is less than 2% so not a significant amount of $. They have $700 million plus in cash; they call EBITDA positive this year; they reduced the head count which lowers expenses; interest rates will be increased once or twice then a wait period and then a slow decline. All positives for the stock price. And the Quebec Pension still owns a large block of shares - they haven’t given up! The stock price seems to have held at this price range, so there is no real material downside risk. SQ and Toast are in the same stock price position, an industry decline not a stock specific decline. In a better market this stock will quickly do a triple from here.. So … buy and wait … or… move on? Clayton”
This past year LSPD has been in a trading range of $17 ish to $15 ish. Today it has moved above that range with heavy volume. Is it time to buy or wait! If you are waiting, what are you waiting for?

Q: I have been holding this for 2 years and it has not done much and is still down 20% even with the recent upswing in the market. Can I have your opinion on this stock and on healthcare in general (minus Canada)? if I decide to sell for a loss, what do you think about replacing it with a healthcare etf such as XLV- would XLV have the same upside potential as SNN? if not, can you recommend a replacement?
thanks

Q: Hi, Could you comment on this acquisition/carve out deal by Lumine group. Thanks

" 08:44 AM EST, 12/20/2023 (MT Newswires) -- Lumine Group Inc. (LMN.TO), a global buy-and-hold forever acquirer of communications and media software businesses, said Wednesday that, through one of its wholly-owned subsidiaries, it has signed a definitive agreement to buy the Device Management and Service Management Platform businesses from Nokia (NYSE: NOK) for 185 million euros ($270.3 million).

According to a statement, this will mark Lumine Group's second carve-out transaction with the Finnish multinational giant.

After the deal, Lumine Group will restore the Motive brand as the new corporate entity for the Device Management and Service Management Platform services as a stand-alone business unit within Lumine Group.

The total purchase price includes a contingent consideration of up to 35 million euros based on the performance of the business during the first year after close.

The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2024."

Thank You

Q: Everyone, large cap tech stocks have had an amazing year. So going into next year and next year, will managers sell some and redeploy cash or sell lots and deploy cash or will they keep there current amounts hoping for an average gain next year? If they sell this will put a downward momentum on the Nasdaq 100. Clayton

Q: Hi, Shopify rally, this year has been remarkable this year, and stock continues to have a strong momentum, despite recent downgrades from many US brokerages. Canadian analyst community, though, continue to have a more positive bias.

Stock is up almost 200% from its October 2022 lows. Do you think, it's mostly short covering or company has strong fundamentals for the stock to regain its highs of $200, in due course ?

Why, in your view, are so many US analysts, lukewarm on Shopify ?

Thank You

Q: Hi 5i Team - In an answer to a question on Sept. 27 you mentioned that Neighbourly had a growing balance sheet, good forward sales and earnings and solid fundamentals with a cautionary note that it was not yet profitable and needed to become so. At that time it traded around $12.50. It seemed to have a lot of potential back then before the offer. If the offer falls through completely and it returned to around that price level would it not still have good potential and be worth buying for a mid to long term hold. Would the same theory hold for today's price of around $15. Also what is your opinion of management. Thanks.

Q: This is more of a response to Stephen regarding his question about Zwc-I am also retired and purchased Zwc in the fall of 2017. I purchased the units around 19.50 when the tsx was around 16,500. Currently the units are close to 17.00 however the tsx is close to 21,000. My dividend paid since 2017 far out way the capital loss currently however I am speculating that over time the market will continue to rise as it has over the past many decades. Eventually I expect to get my capital back and perhaps a little more-no guarantees so I will keep my fingers crossed

Q: Good Day To All:
Further to my recent question on Reitmans, I am having difficulty with your comment of the cash on the Balance Sheet. You state that Cash offsets debt. My information( which may be incorrect, and is my reason for following up with you ) is that they have approximately $ 100 m of cash. The inventory more than covers the accounts payable making an acceptable current ratio. The lease liability in accordance with GAAP will be covered by future operations. The only risk I see is that the same board which let them go into bankruptcy may decide to take them private at a low share price. Your comments please. Thanks for your previous helpful comments. Also you state that they pen out quite well using ROE. It would look even better using ROIC considering the cash on hand. There are also tax losses to be carried forward.
Thanks, ben.
