Q: My 20year old son has at least 2years of school left and has enough summer income and RESP to cover those years. He has been slowly building a portfolio that mirrors your balanced portfolio. With the take over of AVO his tech weightings are now 33% ( youth seems more comfortable with tech!). I am encouraging him to rebalance. Which do you think has the best 2+ year outlook. ATD.B, SLF, WSP or SJ on the recent pullback. Thank you for all your suggestions, this is a fun kind of “problem” to have!

Q: hi 5i, as a retired couple with your income portfolio, 10% cash and our largest 5 positions above pulling back between 4% and 8% in the last 2 weeks, is now or soon a good time to deploy 5% cash? if so should we add to your income portfolio or add to the above stocks and in what order, best to last or wait for a bottom to form. Thanks so much for your reply. Peter

Q: Hello Peter and team,
I know that you don't generally deal with U.S. stocks, but I would greatly appreciate it if you would identify your top 2 recommendations for each of the following sectors: Industrials, Materials and Technology. Thank you for your excellent service.

Q: The market had a correction over the last few days. I have a list of holdings that have fallen considerably more than the market and I will hold them to see how they recover. If there is any you think that I should part company with after their initial recovery, let me know. They XNET, ICER, BRKS, HBM.TO, ALB, CGNX. Thank you Dennis

Q: Good Morning
I will appreciate your comments on EMA
Emera's debt to equity ratio is 69.43% (my broker's figures)
Can you please comment whether EMA will be able to pay down this debt with the rising trend in interest rates?
Is the dividend sustainable?
I am down 10% as of today. I am planning to average down if it drops below $40. Is this advisable? Or should I sell?
EMA is in my RIF account.
Thanks again for your insight.

Q: Good Day Looking at dipping my toe back into the energy sector. Please rate ARX and WCP. How strong are their balance sheets? Does 5i have a better play on energy. Or is it just to early for the energy sector?

Q: I am following the BE portfolio. In tech, I already own Constellation, Kinaxis and Photon. If I want to add to technology, which of CLS or SYZ should I choose at the moment? Any particular stock with good momentum? Last time you answered AVO but I was too late in purchasing. Thanks!

Q: Hello Peter,

I just read your article entitled "Five Signs That This Market Party Might Be Winding Down" in the February 2, 2018 issue of the Financial Post.

In this article, you advise that, "Like any good party, there does come an appropriate time to leave." Specifically, you say that if the economic climate changes to a situation with increasing inflation and slower growth, "this would be a sure sign to get out of the market for a period of time."

I have only been a member of 5i Research for a few months, but I have extensively read through your answers to all questions, the blogs, etc., on the website. You consistently advise members that market timing usually doesn't work. This article seems to contradict one of your key tenets of successful long term investing. Has your philosophy changed, or am I misunderstanding something?

Thanks.

Brad
