Q: Hello Peter,
We made our annual contribution to our grandsons RESP. He is 4 years old. We would like to add one or two new stocks to his portfolio. The current holdings are:
ATD.B
CXI
GUD
NFI

In your opinion what would be some good Additions? Thank you

Q: On these 3 bond ETFs I am down between 4-6%. I was thinking of crystallizing
these losses. First, do you think this a good time to 'clean up' ones bonds? Second, could you recommend their replacements.

TIA

Q: Excellent Q&A on BNN today. Question #1: CRH has shown a substantial improvement over the last 3 months & I believe it will continue. Your thoughts! RHT has really just imurged but, I think if could easily move up 1-2 dollars this year . Please comment. CBW is very confusing with all its numerous financings however, I would appreciate your opinion. Thank you.

Q: I have two young kids with RESPs (5 and 10). I have asked a few questions regarding etfs mostly because available resource in the accounts was small. That said, one is worth about 28K (AVO, DSG, DHX, ENB, HR.UN, KBL, MUX, STN, TSGI), the other, a series of etfs worth 12k (XIC, XIN, VUN). Both accounts have 3-5k in cash, what would you do at this point? I understand this borders on portfolio review, but in terms of sector allocation etc, I would appreciate any advice. With 38K in play, the review is not yet a wise investment. As an aside, an RESP model portfolio would be immensely useful to I am sure many subscribers in a similar spot as I find myself, with small but growing portfolios built over time matched with gvt subsidies. Anyway, thanks for all you do, and a very Happy New Year to you all. I look forward to your thoughts.

Thanks,

Eric

Q: In your response to a previous question where I was looking to replace VWO with a Canadian equivalent, you suggested VEE. The TD Webbroker site shows VWO with a dividend yield of 2.15% and VEE with 1.34%. Can you confirm these numbers and if they track the same index why would there be any noteworthy difference?

Q: I have very little invested outside of Canada and would like to increase foreign investments. What are the tax ramifications if any, of investing in index funds such as Vanguard or Ishares in a taxable account? I suspect that there may be a withholding tax.

What would your 3 favourites be for investing outside of North America?

Thanks
Ron
