Q: Hi Peter. Seems like a good idea to let my shares of ECI roll over into BIP.UN. It's in a TFSA. Keep collecting the ECI dividend, pay no fees, and have roughly the same dividend when converted to BIP.UN. What could go wrong? Deal not going through, not all my shares being converted, anything else? As to sector allocation, does it really matter that I go underweight Consumer and overweight utilities?
Thanks so much for this and PUR!

Q: Do you know when QST next reports? It's been soft the past few weeks. Can you see any reason for it?
Q: Hi,
I am looking to purchase some shares in a Canadian Bank. (The 5 main ones,
Canadian Western, Laurentian or National). Which of the banks do you think offer the best potential for total return over the next 5 or so years? Taxes are not a consideration; It is a registered account. Which of the banks do you think offer the least risk?
Thanks,
IF

Q: Hi 5i team
If demand growth estimates for methanol are realistic, and much of that growth occurs in China and Asia, wouldn't China mobilize state-owned enterprises to add significant capacity for their benefit (and the detriment of Methanex), as they have done in other "basics" like steel? Thank you.
Edward

Q: How long will TSGI remain in the dog house, apparently due to weak earnings reported by its competitor and other industry issues ? From $50 to $43 is quite a drop, with consistent decline every single day for past 2 weeks. I have noted your comments that stock is cheap, but is it for a reason ? Do you believe that upcoming TSGI earnings might help ? This one has been really volatile !! Thanks

Q: Aug 1, 2018 - CAE acquires Alpha-Omega Change Engineering (AOCE)
CAE today announced that CAE USA Mission Solutions Inc., a subsidiary of CAE USA, has acquired Alpha-Omega Change Engineering (AOCE) for approximately US$29 million, excluding post-closing adjustments. The acquisition will enhance CAE USA’s core capabilities as a training systems integrator (TSI), grow CAE’s position on enduring platforms such as fighter aircraft, and expand the ability for CAE USA to pursue higher-level security programs in the United States.
AOCE, based in Williamsburg, Virginia, provides a range of aircrew training services, operational test and evaluation, and engineering support services to the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. intelligence services.
Would you please provide your opinion of this acquisition by CAE and what is their competition in the Defense Sector?
Thanks

Q: I am considering adding (about 2% position) a high-yielding, non-bank financial, and am looking at FSZ or GS. My objectives are more dividend sustainability and stock price stability over growth. Do you know what the payout is for each of these, and do you have a preference for one over the other and why? Would you buy today? If you have a better idea, please comment.
Thank-you
Thank-you
Q: Thoughts on HWO, looks like it’s holding and possible upside from here. Buy?
Q: I added a bit of CGX about three months ago on a "bottom fishing" basis. My intention was to see if this stock can gain some traction and then decide if I should buy more, just hold, or simply sell.
Do you know when CGX reports? What are the street expectations of the top and bottom lines, as well as the EPS? Thanks.

Q: I've been a very satisfied customer of 5i since your early years, I've been introduced to many great investments, learned portfolio management skills that have made a much better investor. The area I am weakest in is a sell strategy, and I'd guess I'm not alone by reading your question section daily. Currently holding the above 3 companies with between 20 and 45% losses. What would your current thought on each be and perhaps a short overall sell strategy. Of course, deduct credits as you see fit.
Q: I own Constellation's debentures, with the drop in stock price do you think it would be a good idea to fill out my position with the shares.
I own Capstone Infrastructure preferred shares, and have done quite well owning them. Do you have any concerns about this preferred going forward?

Q: Hello. My 21 year old daughter is looking for options for her TFSA. She is still a student, so she is risk averse at this stage in life. She has a couple of bonds, which are providing a yield of about 2-3 %, but we were are looking at bond fund options for her remaining $12,000. She probably will not need the money for her education, so she has about a 5 year time horizon. What would you recommend for a bond fund that would be fairly conservative, but would give her a bit more of a return than 2-3 %? She tells me should could live with a bit of volatility, but not a big drawdown, so the bonds would need to be reasonably high quality.
Thanks for the great service you provide.

Q: Hi.
I want to invest in a Mining company that engages in copper mining as well as other minerals. I have been reading alot about the renewable energy market and I feel as though copper, aluminum, lithium, cobalt, as well as other minerals linked to renewable energy will be continuing to grow in demand. I know that as a commodity Copper is low right now. I was looking for a shorter term investment (1 to 3 years) as well as a longer term investment (5 to 10 years) in a good mining company that mines for minerals linked to renewable energy. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks
Rob
