Q: Hi 5i,

I received a notice of a tender offer for ECN shares. The offer advises that existing shareholders can participate by specifying a price between $3.49 to $3.90 per share as a Dutch auction. Can you clarify how this sort of thing typically works, versus just buying at the market price? I'm wondering if this is a good deal for existing shareholders. As of me writing this, the share price is $3.71.

Thanks!

Q: This is the parent company of Zara and other retail brands worldwide.
Are you able to provide an opinion regarding whether or not to invest in the company at this point in time?
It is near a 52 week low and pays a 2.57% dividend.

Thanks for any guidance or information you can provide.

Q: Hi Team,

Many people look at utilities for the income potential. I was wondering if you could please rank these four utilities for their total return potential for a five-year plus hold. Any particular risks with any of them that I should be aware of? Please deduct credits as needed.

Many thanks, Michael

Q: There was a report today on BNN about fraud in the automobile body shop business. It was admittedly a very limited 'sting' operation by Aviva but a disconcerting one nonetheless. I could not find any further detail on the Aviva website as to the body shops involved and I was wondering if you could find this information and, more specifically, whether any of them are part of the Boyd Group operation?

Q: I have been using the Globe and Mail "My Watchlist" for years which I have found quite useful, although gradually some features have been removed and saved for G&M subscribers only.
Now The watchlist feature is only available to subscribers only.
I really don't want to subscribe to the Globe and Mail Paper which has nothing to do with the Watchlist. I am hoping that 5i (or one of 5i's subscribers may know of a similar site.
Thank you for any you can provide.
John

Q: Hello 5i team; Any new thoughts on PEO and BYL. I am getting a bit impatient with both of these as of late. I am down 14% on BYL and 5% on PEO since buying them. I know you think highly of PEO. Do you feel it is consolidating after the previous run up or is there material weakness building in some regard? I am looking for near term catalysts to get these 2 stocks moving. BYL from my take should have numerous new avenues of growth after its recent takeover stemming from the whole roster of products acquired and now being able to sell them to their "approved" customers, in which Advantech never could because it didn't have the rights (from what I have gathered from company statements). Anyways just looking for some guidance if I should just hold on and ride these 2 out or sell and move on....

Q: I currently hold this Bond Fund. I'm looking to add a bit more fixed income. This fund is well below NAV right now, has declined about 2.8% in the last year (most of this in the last month or 2), but has a nice yield of close to 6%. I am up on the year by 3% which seems fine to me, considering savings accounts pay .05% these days. Should I add to this one or are there others that might grow a bit in this environment? It seems most of them are well below NAV at the moment. Thank you!
