Q: I asked 5i about WEC in September 2017. I have held it, to my regret. I now seek a FRESH and independent look by 5i re WEC. Sabrient is a quant shop I have followed for a few years and I was alarmed to see them slap a “STRONG SELL” on WEC. Thomson Reuters is mostly neutral although they appear (I think) positive on the future, in that they gave WEC a 10 out of 10 in their section “Earnings Outlook” . A couple of other analysts I read show WEC as a hold or neutral. I show considerable loss on WEC (almost as bad as I have on ENB.ca). Is the drop in value in WEC and other utilities due to actual or prospective increases in interest rates? If yes, do you think the market has now baked all that into current price? Would you hold? (Can't use as tax loss). If you would sell, please suggest 2 or 3 US names to replace it with?

Q: It’s becoming increasingly clear Canada is facing challenges on many economic fronts from increasing regulatory burdens, inability to attract foerign capital and sub-national debt at the provincial level. Given that these, among many other, factors make Canada a questionable destination for investment, I’m wondering about your take on what this means going forward. Apart from an increased international focus, are there some Canadian companies doing business in Canada you feel can benefit from a potentially deteriorating economic scenario in Canada. I've recently taken a position in GSY and am considering DOL. Your thoughts on these and other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Q: This is further to your response to Alan about the ALA receipts (ALA.R). You indicated that you expect the deal to close by Q4 2018. It was my understanding that if the deal did not close by the end of June, the receipts would be bought out at about $31. While I have no problem holding ALA, I bought the receipts at a much lower price kind of hoping for the deal to fail. Am I wrong about the June date, or was there some company announcement I missed? Can they actually change the June date if the deal is not off, just delayed?

Thank-you

Q: You last reviewed these two uranium companies in 2017. MGA owns a reasonable portion of NXE. Both currently ticking upwards a little Can you please update and suggest where these may be going in next year or even several years? I have made some money on these as small investments, so I am OK to continue holding and can live with volatility. Thank you.

Q: I hold MAXR and show somewhat large losses on the holding. I bought before it changed its name from McDonald D.W. I now do not recall why I even bought it. Was it on one of the model portfolios in 2017? Until 2016-17 I had only US stocks. A US premium letter I subscribe to (New Constructs, who often use robo analytics) just listed MAXR as a stock that one may short--I don't short stocks. New Constructs put MAXR in their “Dangerous Model portfolio” in which they name stocks worth shorting. What do you advise? MAXR is however finally beginning to show some positive movement. Is that slow price climb up sustainable ? What are MAXR’s prospects and is it worth keeping? If you advise sell, what would you replace it with?

Q: Having sold both of these in the past couple of weeks, I was going to repurchase them in 30 days, but don't think I will. They both seem to be income type of stocks and I would prefer some growth. Can you recommend any stocks with better growth in these sectors or perhaps I just keep away from certain sectors as your balanced portfolio does.
