Q: When a stock goes ex dividend, the price always appears to be reduced by the dividend amount on the ex dividend day. So, for example, a share is quoted at $10.00 and pays a $0.10 dividend. The stock may show on ex dividend day at $9.95 - up $0.05 when it is in fact down $0.05 from the previous close. Why is this and is it the TSX that does this?

Q: after hitting a high of 112 after its earnings, stock has gotten smashed down to 89.
i cannot find any news , have not sold a share.
i know its volatile anything i am missing to account for this downdraft. dave

Q: At a current 6% yield, oversold and a solid credit risk, would this be a good time to consider moving into this? I am thinking of this as a shorter term hold (5 years). I understand that it is equivalent to perpetual or long-term bond and thus will fluctuate with interest rates.

Q: I'm interested in 2 lo-volatility stocks, with some dividend and some momentum for a minimum of 2 years. Most of these REITs mentioned have lots of hold recommendations, but very few buys despite their recent outperformance?? Are they overbought? Q: Further to my Q on 6/17,GMP has now completed the sale of the majority of its capital business.Both GMP & Pr.B have risen since announcement of the sale in June.However today Pr.B dropped 0.55(4.23%) to $12.45,while GMP was up 0.05.Are there any reasons? My p/p was $15 in Oct 2016 (2% position)& decline is nearly offset by the Q dividend(& X-div is 9/13).Thinking of selling & replacing it with a better stock.Please may I have u expert opinion.If sell,please provide 1 or 2 names with the best potential(can be any sectors).Txs for u usual great views & services
