Q: Can you think of any reason why Visa is being hit harder then the S&P of late? Is there any specific thesis that ties Visa to the negative sentiment surrounding raising bond yields? I've been looking to buy this company for a very long time hoping for a pull back and finally bought a little. Would you continue to add or wait for further pull back. My only other US financial is Blackstone and it has also taken a beating lately. Thanks

Q: Which stocks are screaming buy after today's meltdown?.
Q: Good Afternoon,
Timely question I suppose with the market weakness today, I think the market is due for some weakness and volatility I'm not overly concerned by this. However, I am wondering what 5i's strategy going forward is in regards to the next recession?Perhaps we will find ourselves in a recession within the next few years, what will your strategy be for the B/E model? Can you see yourselves taking a more defensive stance , i.e raising cash, buying defensive sectors ( telecom, staples etc..) or just riding it out? I know the average recession is only about 9 months in duration.
Thanks very much.

Q: There has been a lot of volatility in some great US growth stocks over the last few weeks. ( I.e BOX) Can you suggest your favourite 2 or more that you think will benefit the most when sentiment changes.
Q: I currently have close to my target geographical weighting, but with the current (global) sell-off and cash in my portfolio I am thinking about going a bit overweight either Europe or Emerging Markets. In terms of value for new buying today, how would you rank Canada versus USA, Europe and Emerging Markets?
Q: Aetna has basically been sold and yet the price continues to rise. Does this have any adverse affect on the CVS offer? I'm assuming it's largely good news.
Q: Can you provide any insight into the acquisition announced yesterday?
What could it mean for the stock?
The terms sound too good to be true;
-to keep the asset acquisition cash-flow neutral to FLYHT during this period, PAC will pay FLYHT a subsidy of USD$3.3 million.
-Pursuant to the terms of the acquisition of PWS assets and the transition agreement, FLYHT is paying no monetary consideration to PAC for the PWS assets.
Thanks.

Q: Would this be a suitable ETF to begin a TFSA for a young person just established in a job? They have student debt and other expenses to focus on, but I would like to give them a bit of a start on saving/investing with a small TFSA.
Q: Is there any reason for the selloff in the Power Company stocks? Any negative prognostications by analysts? They seem to be getting sold off pretty hard for cheap dividend payers.
Thanks
Thanks
Q: Looking at the sell offs/drops on both sides of the border the last week, can you offer any advice? I have a long term outlook, and am ok with some risk. Do you see any stocks (on either side) the present a good buy at current levels that are likely to make a good rebound?
Thanks
Thanks
Q: Hi Team,
What are some "safer" stock picks in the current market conditions?
I would expect AI.TO (Atrium Mortgage Investment Corp) to benefit from the rising rate environment. As interest rates rise, the credit worthiness of the Big Banks potential customers will be more scrutinized and therefore applicants such as building developers would have to look elsewhere for financing such as Atrium. These applicants (although rejected by Big Banks) would have better credit worthiness than Atriums current customer base and over time I would expect that the average credit worthiness of Atriums loan base to increase (given that the life of majority of the loans are1-2 years, a quick shift in borrowers is not unlikely). Historically, Atrium had a loan loss provision of less than 1.2% and normally has 75% loan to value cap. Please can I have your thoughts?

Q: Hello. The financial post used to have a site which listed exchange traded convertible bonds. It used to show bond price, conversion rates, premium %, common share price etc. But it is no longer available.
Is there any service, site or brokerage, that provides this info? Free would ideal, but but I'm willing to pay a reasonable fee to obtain this info.
Thanks for your help.

- Transcontinental Inc. Class A Subordinate Voting Shares (TCL.A)
- Premium Brands Holdings Corporation (PBH)

- Balanced Equity Portfolio (BEPORT)
Q: With the recent sell off, have any of the above stocks (contained in either the Income or Balanced Portfolios) reached the stage where you would call them "table-pounding buys"? In other words, has the market overreacted and the pendulum has swung too far?
Obviously, there is always the chance of a continued downdraft, but at some point you just step in top up your holdings.
The Income Portfolio is sitting on 10% cash...any thought to deploying some of it soon? Thanks...Steve

Q: Hello 5i
Do you think that dividend payers will ever come back into fashion. I know they were at elevated levels with ultra low interest rates but has the market over reacted to these stocks? Am I safe with a 10 year time line to stick with stocks like ala, enb, bce, dol and bns for example?
Thanks.

Q: In the current investment environment with the prospect of rising interest rates would you use stop loss orders or just hang in? Thanks, Bill
