Q: Hi 5i team,
My dad is almost retired with a +/- 5 year timeline of when he will need a majority of his savings. I feel he should move it out of a bank account that earns him 0.07% and into an ETF or into some blue chips stocks. Can you recommend some ETF's or blue chip stocks for his timeline?
Thanks.

Q: Hi 5i,
Your list of Canadian companies paying US$ dividends needs updating. Agrium and Potash Corp (both on the list) have become Nutrien (NTR), which still pays a dividend in US$. Cheers!

Q: I have a question about 966
I'm confused about Maxr. The stock price keeps going down yet insiders have been buying. What am I missing?

Q: Are there Canadian companies whose dividends are paid in USD and qualify for the dividend tax credit? If so please provide a list of a dozen or so or alternatively how can I locate them?
Thank you.
Thank you.
Q: Can you please update me as to when the ENB acquisition of ENF will happen? Is ENF still considering the matter?
I shall miss the ENF income stream. Any good ideas for replacement, since I already have enough in ENB itself?

Q: Thinking about selling all my WEED including profit and buying into TSGI given its massive pullback in recent months.
Do you see more upside in TSGI over WEED at this stage?

Q: I had just recently bought this company in my TFSA prior to the 2nd quarter earnings report, and the stock has dropped over 25% since my initial purchase. It would seem that 5i still likes the company do you consider the market reaction overblown, would you consider averaging down with this company or would you hold the position for the longer term.
Thanks Tom

Q: Any rumours around re CGX? Barry Schwartz tweets have me wondering.
Q: Been listening to the talk of Shell building a Liquid Natural Gas plant on the west coast. What is your take on the possibility of this happening? What impact could this have on the companies Ive listed? Which company do you prefer? Are there other investments we as 5i members should be considering based on this possibility? Any other ways this possibility could impact Canadians?
Thanks as always for your opinion.

Q: Peter,
In your opinion, what is a better predictor of future cash flows, Earnings vs Cash Flows? The FASB indicated operating earnings are a better predictor but just wondering your general thoughts on this topic? Also, which earnings do you prefer: EBITDA, EBIT, EBT or Net Income?
Thanks.

Q: Anything positive for ALO at this seemingly low price? Enough to help offset the negative momentum in the stock price, and the commodity?
Q: There are not many Canadian stocks in the healthcare sector. Telus is now in the Electronic Health Records business, and Loblaws now owns Shoppers Drug Mart. Would you consider L and T to be partially healthcare?
Do you have any stock suggestions for healthcare in Canada? If not, could you recommend US or European stocks that would be advisable?
Thank you,
Fed

Q: hello 5i:
I'm a long time holder of HAC, about 7 years now, and have been very happy, both with the performance and the lack of volatility in the stock. For the most part, its just been a steady eddy. I've reduced the weighting, but its still crept up to be close to 10% of our portfolio. Any comment on what you perceive to be a proper weighting for an ETF such as this? Do you have any comments to add as to your ideas about HAC?
thanks
Paul L

Q: Press release from last week:
American Hotel Income Properties REIT LP ("AHIP", the "Company") (TSX: HOT.UN, HOT.U, and HOT.DB.U) discloses that Rob O'Neill, CEO, purchased 5,000 additional units today, through open market purchases.
Since January 1, 2018, Mr. O'Neill has acquired 163,398 additional units of AHIP, including 15,498 units provided as part of his agreement with the Company to take 100% of his 2018 compensation in the form of equity.
Seems to me a CEO taking 100% of his 2018 compensation in equity is a great sign and bullish for the stock. Do you agree? Also, how common is this for a CEO to be 100% compensated in equity?
