Q: Can you comment on the investment potential of UTX.I understand it is being split into three different companies with a view that the new sum will better reflect value...Kim
Q: It looks like AQN was hit extra hard in the 08 recession falling from around $8 to $2.30ish when they cut the dividend substantially. Do you know why they had to cut their dividend and could you see this happening again whenever the next recession hits? From the chart it doesn't look like this was a very 'defensive stock' back in '08.
Q: hello team, this stock is approaching 10 year low, keeping in mind current political storm, this company has no future? do you see value in the company?
Thanks for taking my question
Q: When the "XTR" etf is part of a non-registered account (not RRSP nor TFSA ) : 1) Are the dividends from any US ETFs included in XTR submitted to a taxation within XTR (so before any payment of dividends by XTR) ? 2) Is it the same for Canadian dividends included in ETFs within XTR? 3) In such case, for US dividends, can this be considered like a “double taxation” at the end? 4) What is the percentage of taxation of dividends from a US ETF included in XTR , if taxed before XTR distributions ? Regards Jean-Yves
Q: Given its latest results and stock movement (down) what are your thoughts on trying to catch this falling knife? It would seem that with the likes of Berkshire and 3G Capital on board, they are bound to shake it up soon. Thanks.
Q: Hi, It was nice to watch Peter's BNN appearance on Wednesday. Very thorough and objective !! And, yes a US stock pick was interesting. Enjoyed the show.
It was also very reassuring to see Constellation Software as a Top Pick, even with the recent bounce. Clearly shows your conviction in this superb company, from the early days. Your comment about memebers' questions, which is the next comparable company with similar attributes - " The next Constellation Software is Constellation Software, itself" confirmed your confidence. We have a large position across all family accounts and have benefitted tremendously over time. Thank You.
My question is - How do we ascertain, if there has been institutional interest/buying of a stock, over certain time period ?
Yesterday, Canaccord Technical Analyst repeated Constellation as a Top Pick and mentioned that they have seen institutional buying and volume going up over past 6-8 weeks, which is healthy and a strong positive indicator.
Q: Pres. Trump says after Tariffs Lifted with China , China will buy more Soya Beans, Corn and Wheat. This would be good for American farmers and good for fertilizer producers. What companies would benefit the most. Would Nutrien NTR be one ? Who else ? Thanks 5 i. RAK
Q: My adult daughter (and a 5i member herself) has about $18K put aside to set up an initial position in a new TFSA. She has a 30 year time horizon, is a conservative investor and would probably feel more comfortable with a 'buy and hold' strategy vs trading. She would also tend to favour large and mid cap equities.
Could you please suggest 6-8 stocks that might be appropiate at this time? As an aside she does hold BCE and EMA as DRIPS.
Many thanks.
Q: Hi 5i team,
Canadian financials account for 24% of our portfolio and 2% of this is in MFC in my TFSA account. I've held it for a number of years and I am up 50%. Presently, our total holdings are 60% Canada; 30% US and 10% International. I am thinking of selling MFC and replacing it with a US ETF or a fairly safe growth stock. I only have 1% in healthcare (split evenly between VHT and UNH in TFSA account) and am considering topping up based on MFC sale. Would appreciate your thoughts on this move. Thanks.
Q: At bare minimum should Sangoma's stock price trade at least 1X sales based on the current sales quarterly run rate of $30M or $120M annually (which is a mix of recurring) just reported therefore a stock price closer to $2.30? The Company continues to exceed on revenue growth, EBITDA and cash flow expectations and trailing net income has little meaning for a company making big acquisitions because of one-time integration costs . From management comments the Company's outlook is very strong and they continue to execute on paying down debt. Other Company's trade at more then 3 times future sales with no track record! I am missing something?
Q: As a holder of aw I am consernd about your comments that the beef used is antibiotic free .
The use of growth hormones in the beef industry is all but redundant due to the advancement on genitics.there for a easy thing to say and advertise.
Antibiotic free beef is something that is impossible on a commercial scale and AW on there website verified this .
In 5:i assessment of aw claimed it sells only antibiotic free meat not so
Kind regards
Stan
