Q: Greetings,

I am wondering if Gibsons is worth a punt at less than $20 ish to be treated as a trading stock whilst being paid to wait for an uplift?

1. Highly leveraged - Could this be a big problem going forward? Are the dividends safe?
2. From what I can tell, 5 separate Insiders bought meaningful amounts of stock on Feb 20th - They must know something?
3. Sudden steep decline - Maybe an over reaction?
4. Trading range - Since 2019 the stock seems to be trading in the range $20 - $26 - Can we hope on a reversion to the mean?
5. Are it's problems self inflicted or general market sentiment ?

Many thanks!

Q: Hi 5i,
Could you provide your opinion of the likely direct and indirect impact of the promised US tariffs (or just the threat of same even if they don't ultimately come to pass) on the 1-to-2-year SP of the five noted names? I 'm not confident in my ability to discern which companies have a significant degree of immunity (although I think these 5 may).
Thanks,
Peter

Q: I'm trying to assess unit price movement of HYPYT under certain scenarios ..... I have HYPT not HYPT.U ......

1} The Bank of Canada reduces rates in response to Trump's tariffs. Tariff inflation cannot be battled with interest rate increases .....

2} The US Fed also reduces rates as raising them would have no affect on tariff inflation and a possible recession would be Powell's main concern ......

Please comment on my theory and what price action you would expect if I am correct ? Thanks for your terrific service ......

Q: Is this what he planned ? Town Halls across America are reacting negatively towards President Trump. Concern about Inflation and Jobs and lower value on their investments . Their net worth.
Elon taking a hit on Tesla Shares,
People will not buy a Tesla,
Premier Ford 25 % tariff on Electricity NY Michigan and Minnesota will hurt.

No American Booze for sale in Canada,

30,000,000 Canadian trips a year to USA

Vacations are being cancelled to USA,

Does not look good for American Economy. Will President Trump drop his Tariffs on Canada all together and admit he was wrong.

I don't think so. What do you all think he will do ?

Q: Could you please help us understand the impact/benefit of the possible change as announced by S&P Dow Jones.

" This week, S&P Dow Jones said it will consider a significant change that would allow some companies to appear in multiple countries’ indexes, paving the way for companies such as Brookfield Asset Management Ltd. BAM-T , Shopify Inc. SHOP-T
, to be both Canadian and American.

S&P Dow Jones says it could allow companies “with significant ties to Canada” to stay in a Canadian index even if it normally would consider the company “domiciled” in another country. The company would need to be incorporated in Canada to be eligible.

Until now, S&P Dow Jones has said a company can have just one country of domicile – and that country’s stock indexes are where it needs to be. "

Q: Hello, I never thought I would contemplate buying gold because I find difficult to figure out where it is headed in the future, but here I am. Gold has been going up a lot in the past year and I am wondering, what do you think would be the economic or political circumstances or scenarios under which gold would lose value in a substantial manner, say, 20%, by the end of 2025? Thanks

Q: Let’s talk taxes … According to prior Q&As , subscription to 5i Research would be tax deductible. If I subscribed to a Bundle including CMS and ETF/Mutual Fund , I assume only the basic amount (now $250+Tx) is tax deductible?
I do not subscribe to Portfolio Analytics but same question could be of interest to the members.
Thanks.

Q: Hi,

Propel has a lot to like. Great growth, consistent dividend raises, and a recent expansion into the UK market. Is there any reason why the share price has come off so much in the last little while? It's down 30-40% from highs a couple months ago, which seems overdone to me. Is there any risk to their business with regards to tariffs or other trade related action from the man in the white house? I know earnings are expected this week, can you share the consensus estimate please? Thanks.
