Q: Good afternoon, looking to hold a 20% allocation of the American market through ETFs (CAD dollar preferred). Currently hold VUN, and I am looking to add another ETF to complement it - was thinking ZSP or VGG. Any opinions on either of these or any others? Thanks

Q: Using numbers from TD Waterhouse as an example:
GS EPS (TTM) is 1.27 and 2018 EPS expectation consensus (Mean) is 1.09.
SLF EPS (TTM) is 3.52 and 2018 EPS expectation consensus (Mean) is 4.84.
What is the explanation if the TTM is above or below 2018 EPS expectations towards end of reporting year? Will the TTM revert towards the mean consensus? Can I interpret anything from the positive or negative variances?

Q: Hi Guys,

I sold WCP for the tax loss in October. Since then it has declined from $8 to $5. Any suggestions as to when to buy back, or would you suggest any other replacement, say VET?

Still hanging on to Teck at a big decline. Was concerned that they would bring on a partner for their copper mine in Peru. Any point in waiting longer or will a deal not be of any impact?

Thanks,

KC

Q: Medgold (MED) is a junior exploration company that has a project in Serbia. The stock has seen a substantial gain this year due to some interesting drill results. In the last few weeks the gains have been erased and in fact the price is lower than it was a year ago. Would you be able to provide any reasons for this decline in the stock price as well as insider ownership/recent trading and cash reserves. Also do have an opinion on the recent exploration results as well as the quality of the resource going forward. Thank you.

Q: Can I have your comments on BNS's earnings and announcements this morning? At first glance it doesn't seem likely to be well received. Would this be a time to switch into a better performing bank or add to the one that is underperforming? Could you suggest which US bank and which Canadian bank you would switch to? (no problem if this is a multi credit question).

Q: Hi Peter,

I am trying to understand CSU's high P/E ratio which I see as 55-60P/E from one site to another. Please help me understand:
Q1 2018 = $8.50 EPS
Q2 2018 = $7.42 EPS
Q3 2018 = $8.95 EPS
Q4 2018 = $9.54 EPS (projected)
Total for the year = approximately $34.41. Current price is $912; therefore $912/34.41 = 26.5 P/E rather than the 55-60?

Q: Hello Peter,
What are your thoughts on GMP Capital? I have lost more than 50% on the stock since I bought it. The company does seem to be doing fine as it gives out special dividends and with recent takeovers of other related companies, I thought GMP would gain traction but it has not moved up much. Yangarra resources has lost lots of its value but mostly due to the sector issues. A few questions please:
i. Understanding that both companies are in different sectors, do you think Yangarra has higher chance of increasing in stock price then GMP
ii. Given our current policies on energy and pipelines, do you see the oil sector recovering anytime soon as i was thinking of putting monies in other companies like Tourmanline etc
thanks very much

Q: Hi Guys,
I submitted this question last week so not sure if it didn't go through or just got lost in the shuffle. The question is as follows: I am concerned about the oil and gas industry going into a prolonged down pricing environment. Can you rank these companies in terms of balance sheet strength and their ability to withstand a prolonged downturn? Can you also speak on if any of these would be in significant financial trouble (e.g. - bankruptcy) over a prolonged downturn?
Thanks,
Dean
