Q: would you buy either of these right now for a long term hold in a registered and diversified portfolio? thanks
Q: Hi 5i, On September 19 a client asked you a question on this stock and its price peaked at $0.45 that day. Here is part of your response "At $220M market cap, each 'future' location is being valued at about $4M, which seems high to us for a small retail outlet."
Stock is now $.05 - market cap 28.55 million. With the managements experience running Solo Liquor stores, does this seem like a good entry point, this would of course be risky and speculative as it is the Cannabis space, negative momentum etc, I am not looking to add a ton of money to this but maybe a 1% position, what are your thoughts on the company now? Recent update states they hope to have 25 stores open by end of 2019 and are focusing growth on Ontario now. Also, with Ontario possibly opening up liquor to private retailers this could be a play on that as well. Thanks for your advice.

Q: Good morning Peter, Ryan, and team,
A BNN contributor recently said: "Natural gas will become the best performing commodity and this is clearly being seen by the sharp rise the NYMEX natural gas, as low inventories and colder winter weather affect demand."
Do you agree with this assessment, and if so, what stock(s) do you recommend to take advantage of this trend? Our only energy holdings are ENB and PKI.
Thanks as always for your valued advice.

Q: Happy Holidays to ALL at 5i,
I currently own FM at a higher cost than today. In a balanced equity portfolio would you own this stock? I don't want to exchange for another base metal holding and it is in a registered account so tax loss selling is not helpful. My question is more about potential. Do you think the weakness is about U.S./ China trade tensions, slowing Chinese economy or something specific with FM?
My preference is to hold on, but if you think this is dead money for years, then I would move on to another sector to prevent "lost opportunity" elsewhere.
Thank you

Q: Can you comment on why Onex has been so terrible in terms of this years performance.....and what you think it's prospects for 2019 are? Also is Vermillion dividend safe in your view?
Q: I have a loss on Power Corporation.
I intend to sell the stock to take the capital loss.
Can you recommend a replacement?
Of course I like dividend and growth! But I could live with a smaller dividend and some growth,
65 an retired.
Thanks!

Q: Olympia has been on a downward trend for a few of days, anything you see happening here that I should know?
- iShares S&P/TSX Global Gold Index ETF (XGD)
- BMO Junior Gold Index ETF (ZJG)
- VanEck Gold Miners ETF (GDX)
Q: As a hedge which of these gold ETF's would you take a modest position in?
Q: You answered a question on ECN.PR.C I would like to ask a similar question about ECN.PR.A. It has dropped a further $3 since last Thursday. Do you see any particular weakness other than the general conditions you have answered on previous preferred reset questions? Is the share buyback of ECN common shares weakening the company's position of paying interest? Most of my resets have been called back at reset date and new stock issued at lower rates so I have not replaced them. Is that a possibility here and with the C's? (deduct what you feel appropriate)
Thank you and Best wishes for the Christmas Season

Q: Hello,
I currently own the mutual fund Trez Capital Yield Trust Fund in my portfolio. It pays an attractive yield of 8%. However, I understand that the parent company Trez Capital is currently winding down its operations. It is currently trading at $0.50 a share. Is my investment in the mutual fund secure or would you advise me to sell the fund and redeploy the funds?

Q: I was a bit surprised to see SPB in your answer to a question about your top 5 utility companies to buy today. Why are you so positive about this company?
Q: Thanks for the quick reply to my question about debt-free companies. I shouldn't have used the word 'screen', although I appreciate you running one for me, and maybe the ROE criteria was too restrictive.
Asked another way, are there debt-free companies that you like and consider worth holding? I guess I'd expect names like KXS to make the list.
Thanks again for your help!

Q: Do you think stock market action has become decoupled from the world economic reality? I note that unemployment in the US and Canada remains very low, GDP continues to grow and interest rates are still low (and it appears increases are less likely). Furthermore, a reduction in oil prices should put money back into the pockets of consumers. I feel that markets have been possessed by a wave of pessimism that borders on irrationality. I would value your opinion.
Q: Peter and Team:
At this time of tax loss selling and general carnage, what would be your top 3 picks from the balance portfolio to add to regardless of sector.
Thanks
Phil

Q: Greetings,
Given that we should be "running towards quality" during a downturn , I cannot help but to be tempted by EXE for having more of a short term upside that CSH or SIA.
As long as the dividend is safe, would you agree with me EXE could be viewed as a contrarian purchase?
Cheers

Q: Now down to these two mainstream gold companies. I think that perhaps that it might be a good idea to sell mux and use the proceeds to buy more KL. The later has been very profitable for me and unfortunately cannot say the same for mux. In that category would you consider buying ALS altius as an. option or something else. Thank you as always. Wishing you all the very peaceful and blessed Christmas and New Year.
