I'm looking to increase my current Financial Sector weighting from 5 to 15%. I currently hold BNS @ 2.2%, SLF @ 1.5%, and GSY @ 1.3%. What would you add too and/or too a new position? I don't like to have more than 5-6% of one holding, of course this would be risk adjusted down according to market cap/safety.
Last part, on sector weightings. I follow your general recommendation and I noticed you changed the following from Oct'18 to Jan'19 as follows:
Consumer disc. 10 up to 15,
Consumer staples 10 down to 5,
InfoTech 20 down to 15, and
Utilities 5 up to 10.
Can you add some commentary behind these sector weight changes?

Q: Would you please help me understand how the preferred share TD.PF.B resets it’s new interest rate later this year. The prospectus states that the new interest rate will be equal to sum of the Government of Canada Yield on the Fixed Rate Calculation Date plus 2.27%. My two questions are 1) What is the present Government of Canada Yield as mentioned in the prospectus to be found on the Bloomberg Screen GCAN5YR page, and 2) What is the Fixed Rate Calculation date? Is it July 31 2019 as mentioned in various parts of the prospectus. Thanks ... Cal
Q: I hold the above. Is it true that institutional investors are not very active In the preferred market? If this is true then why should retail investors hold these investments, especially given the expeience .of the last few years with the reset disaster?

Q: Given the uncertainties of the USA policies affecting China, North American tariffs, the shut down, etc., I am looking ahead as to how the Dem Congress, the GOP Senate and White House will be able to ratify the USCMA trade accord in 2019. Then too, Canada and the new Mexican government must ratify the trade terms. Would you share your thoughts on defensive sectors? I am a prudent investor. Thank you …. Martin

Q: Hi, a couple or questions here. First, I am wondering about switching a lot of my portfolio to US$ and investing there. Just thinking Canada as an investment place will be a bit dead for quite awhile. Apart from a few of the Cdn growth stock ideas you are touting which I would keep. Is this a good idea? Or if one is spending Cdn $ does the currency risk say stick to Canada. Or do you just hedge that somehow. Next, you have mentioned you are working on "new services". Would this be adding the USA to the Cdn service you now provide? Thanks.
